I mean if your vpn can’t reliably give you a connection in a different area then your vpn just plain doesn’t work at all, that’s what a vpn does.
I have tried proton for a couple of months and am very disappointed in it, I was trying it out for MLB and to watch soccer in the UK. Nord had worked a lot better than proton for me in both cases.
Depends on your router. If your router is capable you can just use more vpn on your router and everything connected to it is automatically ran through the vpn. For us we do not have a router capable so we ran it to our labtop and ran an hdmi to our tv and mirrorcasted the game.
And you can sync Ben and Joe over the tv feed.
I set up a specific router that runs NordVPN and the rokus all over the house are connected to that router. I don’t have a problem streaming on my laptop or casting that to a tv but my mom is not technologically savvy so that means she can just turn the tv on, turn the roku on, go to the mlb app and boom.
It was easy to set up the first time I did it because the router I bought (asus rt-ac51u) was directly compatible with NordVPN. However, we moved and when I went to reset it up Nord updated the OpenVPN version they use to 3.2.## (iirc) and the only firmware versions I could find for the router only supported OpenVPN 3.1.## so I had to flash the router with a third party software. If you want to go that route I’m happy to talk you through it more because I spent a whole Saturday figuring it out >.<
Good luck!
I use it with my Fire Stick. Both Express and Nord VPN worked well
I struggled with it on my TV, but on my (new Gen) chromecast, it hasn’t caused any issues at all.
Also, Bally on my phone won’t let me cast to my TV… very annoying screensharing and having low resolution
Lol I feel you, our computer is pretty stacked with virus protection and pop up blockers to make it easy
I watched part of it on Direct TV Stream. Been watching the Braves, Hawks, and United on Direct TV Stream all year so far.
T mobile has an app called t mobile Tuesdays which gives out “free” shit if you use t mobile. At some point they were offering mlb tv for free and that’s where I picked it up but I don’t know if it’s still there.
It’s more likely that mlb.tv blocks known vpn ips
I found that with Proton, in cases where blacked out games actually play, the stream will crash on ad breaks. So I’d have to close out of the app and, wait a bit of time for the game to come back, then try again. It’s super annoying.
Now I just have a Raspberry Pi set up in my living room dedicated to streaming via… other means. Works great.
Really? Hmm. I don’t mind the TV broadcast but that might be interesting to play around with.
I love the radio option on the TV feed, especially if I’m working. The radio guys have to go a bit more in depth on descriptions than TV does. I’m so glad they have this feature. When Braves aren’t on, I do enjoy their Red Zone style Big Inning show as well. MLB.tv for the price is such a great value.
Thank you. You just changed my life. I have been listening in on mlbtv to the radio feed for the last couple of years. I just now got a vpn and have found the tv personalities kind of blah compared to the radio. This gives you the best of both worlds.
Only necessary when its a night you need to hear “oppo taco” and “ya ya” repeatedly
Absolutely. I did it during the NLCS and WS. Was magic.
You can load a VPN direct to a Firestick??
It was there earlier this week, but it looks like it might be gone now. They have a 5 year deal with MLB, but I don’t know how many years are left. I’ve gotten it for the last 2 years.
