My parents, who live in Atlanta, swapped to YouTube TV this year and I’m trying to help them watch the games legally (they’re not interested in illegal streams). Please let me know what’s working for y’all!
MLB.tv subscription with nordvpn
VPN + MLB TV works and is 100% legal. I used Express VPN last year and it worked great. Using Nord VPN this year because it’s cheaper and I’ve had no issues so far. I made this comment a month ago, but I’ll paste it here.
Here are some facts. Do with them what you will
-
VPN services are 100% legal in the United States.
-
MLB TV is 100% legal in the United States
-
MLBTV terms of service states, “IF YOU CIRCUMVENT, OR ATTEMPT TO CIRCUMVENT, ANY BLACKOUT RESTRICTION OR OTHER USE RESTRICTION: YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL BE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE TERMINATION AND A CHARGE OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) FOR EARLY TERMINATION; YOU MAY BE SUBJECT TO LEGAL ACTION; AND MLB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REPORT SUCH MISCONDUCT TO APPROPRIATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES.”
-
Violation of a private companies terms of service is not necessarily illegal.
-
MLB TV does not refer to any specific law or statute. [Conjecture] If one existed, why would they not refer to it?
-
Anyone can report someone to the law enforcement authorities, that does not mean that someone has done anything illegal, nor does it mean the law enforcement authorities would take action.
-
Contrary to popular belief however, MLB.TV Terms of Service does not specifically mention VPNs (or opposition thereof) anywhere in their terms of service
-
There are alternative reasons to use a VPN other than to circumvent blackout restrictions.
-
Using a VPN service to protect your anonymity on the internet and watching MLB TV at the same time is 100% legal.
-
Per “Cord Cutters” last month, found here, MLB has never sued a MLBTV subscriber for using a VPN, nor have they sought criminal charges. When asked about opposition to using a VPN, an MLB spokesperson answered, “no comment”
-
MLB makes money through your subscription, even if you use a VPN. Taking action against you would cause them to lose customers and money.
-
Interestingly enough, MLB.TV’s FAQ states, “If you are accessing the Internet through a VPN connection, you might be getting a blackout message because the host IP address for the VPN is within the restricted range of the game that you are trying to access,” the site says. (For example, if your VPN uses a St. Louis IP, you couldn’t watch the Cardinals.). [Conjecture] This seems like an odd fact to point out if you are the MLB and don’t want people to realize how VPNs work in the context of streaming MLBTV
-
MLB does not lose any money by users using a VPN. It has no impact on them financially. The TV networks with exclusive rights to the blacked out regions are the only ones effected. The MLB who entered into the contracts with the networks must do the bare minimum to dissuade consumers from circumventing the blackouts. So it’s technically against their TOS. [conjecture] They don’t care and won’t do anything about it if you use a VPN. They’re upholding their end of the contract by blacking you out, and still getting your money if you use a VPN.
I am not a lawyer
Bally Sports app, logged in with Xfinity account of family member that has cable. Probably gray area of legality but options are severely limited. The app isn’t great and it was a real pain to get it logged in, but it works.
I use Express VPN & mlb.tv. Works on my iPad, and also on a TV that I have a FireStick on (b/c Express VPN has an app for FireStick. It does not work on my Smart TVs without Firestick b/c Express VPN has no Smart TV app.
I had to cancel and switch to the charter spectrum streaming package
Ive got T-Mobile, and you get a free one year subscription to MLB.tv, so that plus a VPN!
I recently read on here it’s legal to stream the games from someone who is illegally streaming. As in it’s illegal to broadcast the stream but not to stream the broadcast. Idk if there’s truth to or or not…
Mlbtv :/. Works fine in Richmond, Va except when they play the Nats. Beyond that, the only other issue is casting through my Google chromecast. I think most games on mlbtv would be blacked out in Atlanta
Uzzh.tv it’s legal as far I can tell
I’m not in atl so mlb.tv works for me most of the time.
Uzzu. And bonus you can watch all the cricket and obscure sports your heart desires
DirectTV streaming app. It costs more but you get all the Braves games.
I have an Apple TV so I use the Bally Sports app on my Apple TV with my sister-in-law’s Xfinity login. I’m hoping Sinclair gets their crap together and cuts a deal with YTTV to get the regional sports networks back on there.
Uzzu tv is just paying a 3rd party to load up illegal streams for you
Former YouTube TV subscriber but switched to Direct TV Stream specifically so I could watch the Braves, Hawks, and United, all of whom are on Bally’s Sports (for now). I liked the UI a tad better on YTTV, but Direct TV Stream is fine. It’s a little pricier, but that’s because you’re paying for Bally’s Sports to be included.
I’m in the Outer Banks and it seems like I can either watch on MLB.tv or on YouTubeTV.
Swapped to DIRECTV stream
Waiting for games to come on ESPN+ or Apple TV, frankly. Radio otherwise.
My employer gave me the company log in for Watch TV Everywhere to sign into the Bally Sports App
