This seems so be the main issue:

Zero stars for letting me install and make an account before telling me it’s a subscription service. Sneaky and underhanded loses my trust.

  1. People think it’s fee
  2. They spend time installing, registering, etc.
  3. They find out it’s paid
  4. They’re angry because they wasted their time
  5. One star

Can’t confirm for you since its not available in my region. What do the reviews say? That they expected a free service and its 5$?

Edit: Those who use it or can use it should please try and give the rating it deserves

They should have added ‘In app purchase’ just like other apps do.

Still being tracked. Im not IT ex first at all so i may have just misunderstood what to expect. Im still getting targeted adsc on Facebook and other sights. I’ve started playing games I’ve never played before having the VPN and yet they show up in my ads.

It doesn’t help that nobody actually knows what a VPN is and how it works. Big advertising campaigns from NordVPN, PIA etc have made people think that VPNs are this amazing privacy tool that will stop you from being tracked. Of course a VPN isn’t going to stop targeted ads from targeting you, they have so much data about your device and your accounts that they don’t give a shit about what IP you’re connecting from.

Lesson to Mozilla: people don’t read unless it’s in bold or in ALL CAPS at the very top. And because Mozilla has always been tied to free stuff, they need to make it extra clear that this app requires payment.

Mozilla needs to add (Paid) in the App name or Make it In-App Purchase.

Result? Stonk!

Nah it uses mullvad which is an excellent VPN service

It’s available in New Zealand but not Australia, I assume because of our Assistance and Access Bill :S Assistance and Access Bill 2018: Public comment begins on Australia’s law | Proton VPN

What would be the benefit of using this over just using mullvad?

It’s a great VPN service and works fine for me. The app is just a little barebones and I’m waiting on official Mac+Linux support. I don’t know what the issue is for them. Seems like they might be expecting it to be free.

It doesn’t work on Windows 7, unfortunately. I need to cancel my subscription to it since that’s what’s on my main rig and where I was going to use it. Seema like it’s just a matter of the sign-in not working but still it’s useless to me.

I remember it was supposed to come with 12 tickets you could use all for 30 minutes of free vpn (6 hours in total) every month, maybe mozilla scraped that idea or it isn’t implemented yet. That might be the reason people is mad over the VPN.

I use it. It’s great. The reviews are bad because people aren’t aware it’s a monthly subscription of $5. Well worth it.
