How can I, a person from outside the UK, use BBC Iplayer again?

i used to be able to do it legally, once.
But the BBC took it away for everybody outside of the UK.

BBC blocks known IP addresses that are linked to VPN providers. What works for me is a dedicated UK VPN.

Some people are saying that VPN + iplayer does not work.

Personally with Nord VPN, it works almost perfectly. If you access iplayer from an incognito tab.

For the app it’s trickier because you have to change regions on your device to get it from the App Store. Easier to stick with browser.

VPN with a rotating IP

I lied when it asks “do you own a TV license?”. I don’t. lol Ahhh just another day sailing the seven seas.

VPN seems like the obvious solution, and if you need to, maybe ask someone you know for their login details

VPN, I live in Japan and watch BBC iPlayer live.

Use a VPN to browse the site, close the sign in pop ups and copy the links and paste them into get iplayer yarrr

I watch BBC, C4, ITV (C5 doesn’t work) via ExpressVPN MediaStream DNS, not VPN which is usually blocked. Works smoothly every time. ExVPN provides 2 MediaStream DNS…one for USA and one for UK. Ya, it’s a bit of a hassle to have to switch back’n’forth, but worth it if you watch a lot of UK content online from abroad. FYI, I watch through web browser, not apps, as I can’t access them in my country.

Anything in the iPlayer is streaming on other free sites. Pretty much all we watch is BBC, ITV and Ch5 but also RTE in Ireland, the main station in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Once something is dumped to the BBC iPlayer or ITVX (or similar platform per the network) they show up on these sites. I am currently watching Blue Lights, which was dumped to the iPlayer on April 15 and The Cukoo on Ch 5, which just started a week ago. Finished up some good recent shows on RTE and two South African crime dramas.

This right here, don’t just but any vpn expecting it to work. Proton has worked for me in the past, but I haven’t tried it recently

Nord VPN works perfectly for me with iplayer, if I use an incognito tab (presumably because on a normal tab they collect cookies which flag you as not in UK)

Even better a SmartDNS service because Auntie Beeb often blocks some VPN servers.

Just register with a postcode of your fave restaurant in London and say ‘yes’ to the licence. I have many accounts where I ‘live’ at my fave Wagamamas in SoHo.

Anyone can create an iPlayer account. All you need is a vpn set to the UK

Using VPNs to evade streaming Geo location restrictions is a losing game, they know what IPs are associated with VPNs, only a matter of time

Good to know, my Mum was asking if she could watch Eastenders while she was on holiday

I use ProtonVPN but when I just clean the cookies if I forget to connect the VPN first.

They know all the ip’s, it’s very annoying to settup costs me 11€/month for a tiny provider.

So … what’s the solution?
