Out of curiosity, is it at all possible to use VPNs on Cox? Want to stream Netflix from some other regions. 2.5 - 3 years ago Nord worked until Cox changed their format and Nord stopped working.
Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search and read through a few messages but nothing really answered if it’s possible anymore.
I stopped my VPN subscriptions because they were almost useless at home. I don’t want to buy a new subscription only to find out it’s pointless.
I use multiple vpns on cox both at home and on public hotspots; no issues with blocking so far
Do you mean your home internet using a Panoramic gateway or a Cox hotspot?
I use protonvpn, and have had no issues with it. Every now and then the particular server I’m connected to dies, and so I have to reset my VPN connection, but that has nothing to do with cox itself.
Plus, proton has a free plan, so you can try it, and use it, without paying. You won’t get all the features, and you can’t connect more then a couple of devices under the same account, but personally I find those limitations reasonable considering it’s free.
I use ExpressVPN with Cox with now problems.
Netflix is actively stopping this. So good luck with that.
same here, works fine with proton and mullivad
Home internet using panoramic gateway with a TP Link mesh extender.
Well you won’t be able to install the VPN on the gateway itself so you will have to configure each device to use the VPN. Otherwise you would need your own router with VPN support. You could use bridge mode if you want to use the gateway as a modem, but only suggest that if you get the gateway for free. As for using it on your device, I couldn’t find anything saying it won’t work but you may have to adjust the firewall settings at 192.168.0.1 > user:admin password:password > Firewall. You may also have to turn off advanced security if you turned it on. NordVPN has a 30 day guarantee so you should be able to test it without risk.
PS. What model extender do you have? Usually a mesh system will have its own separate router.
