Trust wi-fi question

I trust my home wi-fi, which I use to connect to the internet.

I do not trust the internet.

If I set to trust my home wi-fi, will I still have VPN protection when I go outside the wi-fi network?

ie: on a trusted home wi-fi, I could connect to printers or other computers in my house without VPN, but if I use that wi-fi to access Yahoo, I would still be routed through VPN, yes (or no)?

If you ‘trust’ a network in the nordvpn app, you won’t be able to connect to a server when on that network. So auto-connect for example wouldn’t even do anything in this case. If you go outside of that network with the same settings and connect to an ‘untrusted’ network, you would auto connect as normal. So in your example, it doesn’t really make sense what your describing to me (no offense). Though I think on some OSes you have the option of ‘invisibility on LAN’ in settings, so that may cause issues with printers and such. If this is the reason you’re looking into the trusting networks setting, you may find it more useful to disable invisibility on LAN instead.

It depends on your set up.

I have NordVPN on my router that provides my wifi. So all of my wifi traffic is routed through the VPN.

I have my iphone/ipad set up with the Nord apps to always connect to the VPN. I also have them set up to trust my wifi network.

So, when my iphone/ipad is connected to my home wifi, the nord apps on my iphone/ipad are disconnected because I am on my wifi network that already traffic funneled thru Nord in my router.

But if I leave home (and leave the wifi range of my network), my iphone automatically switches to my tmobile network. When this happens, the Nord app on my iphone automatically connects and routes the tmobile traffic through the nord app (on my iphone) since I am no longer on a trusted network.

In your case, you need to consider your setup … and make certain that your traffic is routed through the VPN when you are expecting it. This all depends on where/how you have Nord installed on your devices. I can not answer your specific question because you have not explained which devices have Nord installed (is it in the router? Or is it only your phone, or other devices?)
