Slow upload speed in VPN and desktop

Speedtest on box reports good value in upload

When i connect VPN sites are slow to open and on desktop upload value is bad too.

Anyone can help ?

Short answer is no, it’s fine.

VPN server is not the same server as the speedtest on the box. As an example, my speedtest on my box is about 1.3-1.4gbs while my VPN speedtest is around 600mbs. Why is this? It’s not that I’m losing throughput but instead that I’ve maxed the speed out of my (WG) VPN connection. The FWG/FWG+ advertises 500mbs for wireguard. OpenVPN is a bit lower i believe. Keep in mind that when you do a speedtest when VPN’d it’s through the VPN, and then to a speed test server, so you’ve added another hop.

Best way to compare is to do a speedtest on a computer, and selecting the same server for when you’re VPN’d. It usually helps to pick a VPN server close to your ISP as well, so the two will be closer.

RIP Firewalla Stoped working today

*Suport already sent a new one to replace it

New device replace all running smoth at max speeds

Your upload is slow on all devices I’m assuming based on the desktop test. You might have a defective firewalla purple that others have had and you seem to have the same symptoms … packet loss and very slow upload. I’d open a support ticket and they should determine if you need a replacement.

Try some of the test methods here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056875493-Speed-test-and-Speed-Optimization-on-Firewalla

  • Speed from your desktop to firewalla
  • And then firewalla to ISP.

If you still can’t resolve, just open a ticket [email protected]

Your screenshot shows 9.4% packet loss. You’re probably fighting retransmits more than anything related to bandwidth. You might be getting TCP Zero Window events as well. You should run Wireshark to grab a packet capture at the client endpoint.

Edit - I can’t spell.

speed test on destkop it’s on local network not in VPN

Connected my pc to isp router full speed when I connect cable to purple low upload speed

Regardless, it’s not discernible that both tests are using the same server.

I see on your post that the upload speed as tested on the Firewalla is pretty fast, so likely the problem may be complicated. Can you send [email protected] an email, they can help you better than me

Already tried fast.com reports slow upload speed

Support already working on that.

I hope they fix soon, can’t work with 10mbps of upload

Any ideas to fix or find the problem?
