Hey all, firstly off, I’m a relatively new user of OPNsense, so I apologize for any obvious misses. I currently have 3 Ubuntu clients on my network that are permanently connected to PIA’s OpenVPN service. If the VPN connection fails, I have firewall rules in place (on the clients) that stop them from sending any traffic out over the open internet. That’s all good and fine, and it works well, but I still have to have 3 connections running 24/7. I’d love to do this on a network level in a locked down VLAN. I’ve been looking over this tutorial for instructions on how to accomplish this. Most of it makes sense, and I have a client connection set up in OPNsense. I’m just a little fuzzy on how to set up ⠀the VLAN with all traffic going through the connection to PIA. Does the tutorial accomplish what I need? If not, do you have any pointers or a link to a better tutorial? Thanks!
I did this with wireguard, but same principles apply. Just get OPNSense connected to PIA on a new interface, then apply firewall rules similar if not exactly like the ones described in this article. I also found this. Even though this tutorial is for PFSense they’re almost the same product.
