I’ve seen two posts on here from a year and two ago saying that they’ve been charged even after they cancelled their subscription. In one of them, mainly this one a lot of the people there were saying they were or knew someone that was also getting charged even after they cancelled their subscription. I was wondering if this is still an issue because I just bought a subscription to torrent and cancelled my subscription immediately after I got the stuff I needed.
I know how their system works, in and out as I used to work with it.
Generally, whenever I saw claims about cancelation and continuing charges, the issue was:
- the subscription was never canceled
- the customer tried to cancel it the wrong way.
- Or, much more rarely, they had an account they were not aware of that kept bringing in new charges.
An example of number 2 would be, a customer checking their subscriptions via Apple subscriptions, not seeing it there (cause they bought via credit card or another platform) and assuming it was cancelled.
In short, if you make sure you cancel your subscription via the appropriate method, you have nothing to worry about.
And lastly, if let’s say a bug does happen where your subscription gets re-activated without your input or knowledge, they would be able to tell.
Here is the best thing you can do. Use your banks app or call them, and DISPUTE the charge. Overwhelmingly you will get the money back. That’s the only way to deal with companies like this. Here ends the lesson.
I did a successful charge back to Nord when after i paid for it, i was getting (regardless of server chosen) less than 1Mbps connection speed, even though when disconnected from the VPN, i was getting over 40Mbps.
Disputed the charge, my bank called me, explained it to them, 4 days later the charge was reversed.
Always dispute the charge, the company (Nord in this case) doesn’t care at all about the very few that want a refund, they will just approve it. They count on those not willing to go through the process, or hope that they just cancel after collecting some money.
Are you trying to get your $ back under the “30-day money-back guarantee”? Or are you just wanting to disable auto-renew so you don’t get charged again? There’s a difference, which also leads to some of the unjustified claims of getting ripped off by Nord.
Thanks! I turned off auto renewal in billing so I hope that means I cancelled it.
