Privacy Warning on iPad

Getting privacy warring on my wifi network which i use for WFH. It says “The network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic. The. Name of the website and other servers your devices access on this network may be monitored and recorded on other devices on this network “

Please suggest :skull:

Work often does such things (control/monitoring). You can try using a VPN but that might not be allowed or impossible. Don’t use your work device for personal things, nor your personal device for work things.

Enabling “Private WiFi Address” may help—if you are using a VPN it uses its own dns servers which may be causing the conflict, if you remove the manually configured dns settings you entered it may still say that network prompt. So you might have to reconnect to your WiFi all over again (if this is a home router issue). I noticed this a few weeks ago using Quad9 and Proton.

So if you are using a VPN let it do its thing; alter the dns configuration from automatic to manual and leave them blank. If you aren’t and this is your home network you may need to alter your security settings to comply with your devices requirements.

If a network provides an NXDOMAIN response to any/all of the following canary domains, this indicates that the network is unsuitable for handling encrypted domain resolution via iCloud Private Relay:

mask.icloud.com

mask-h2.icloud.com

mask-api.icloud.com

mask.apple-dns.net

If you have your own local filtering nameserver, this behaviour will be intentional, as without it your device would bypass said local resolver.
