Porn blocked in Florida

I just wondered what you all think about this. It’s an interesting move for the patriarchy. Usually their self gratification, objectifying of women, and exploitation of women is never questioned nor addressed. And now they’ve blocked porn? I’m surprised. It’s not about feminism, so what is it about? Maybe hurting the way women are safely making money online?

So fun fact it doesn’t actually target just pornographic websites but it targets any website at all that has at least 33.3% adult content. Another issue is they never specified what classifies as adult content so something like reddit, deviantart, and even some shopping websites can be considered adult content and be one of those that require giving the website your ID to access it. When people go to use vpns which would be a tool to break that State’s law I think they’re going to go after banning vpns then

This prevents legal and established sites that follow laws from operating.

This does not prevent child sex abuse material rings from sharing porn via Telegram.

This does not prevent gruesome and violent porn sites that don’t follow laws from operating unless and until the censors take notice of the site and block it.

This is a tool of control.

I don’t like porn and don’t really care about it being banned, but they are not doing this for the welfare of women. It’s just about control, and this is their first small step. Next anything remotely scandalous or lgbt will be considered porn too and that’s what I am worried about

They will use this to block abortion information and abortion funds from operating. In addition to blocking LGBTQ+ rights orgs.

This will also be a sure way to tag any LGBT content they don’t like as “porn”.

I didn’t think it was banned. I was under the impression that you needed to provide your identification for age verification in order to access it

A big reason is to ban only fans, where women can make their own money without being exploited.

What happened to small government? Don’t we let markets decide? I thought Florida was all about freedom?

KGB classic. You make something contraband to ensure everyone is always committing a crime you can bust them for. Our official Supreme Court definition of pornography is, “You know it when you see it.” So literally anything they want to be porn is. It’s probably also part of the setup to enforce the Comstock Act again, which gives them the power to screen all mail for offending material, and which could logically extend beyond the postal service, allowing for surveillance of all communications.

Censorship. Ban something that’s widely considered as scandalous and taboo and it becomes easier to ban something a little more controversial. It’s the same reason they scream “think of the children!” Makes it easier to slip other things in with their laws.

It’s censorship and control. Much more likely a religious angle as project 2025 wants to make America a theocracy.

They did this in Oklahoma a couple months ago lol. I think it’s pretty funny, but mostly know it won’t make a difference when people have access to streaming graphic shows/movies. I think it’s just virtue signaling of the conservative states.

It’s not banned. You need ID to access it. But banning is the next step in P25. 19 states passed it. Kicks in midnight. I worry about women since they’re going to be surrounded by maga men with blue balls.

I watch porn. I’m trying to stop and have cut back significantly on how much porn I watch. Porn in many ways can be destructive to the psyche. But that’s not the issue here. I don’t want to put my personal information on a (censored) porn site because people who have children don’t know how to set up their child’s devices to block adult content, and before you say it doesn’t work, yes it does. The technology exists for parents to setup their child’s devices so that these websites can’t be reached. So because you (parents) can’t effectively raise your children in the 21st century, you want me to provide my ID which includes my name, D.O.B., address, ID number, height, weight, and photo into a porn site? I don’t have kids! Why do I need to be punished and have even more personal data collected because you can’t raise your children? Because you wish it was still the year 19something “when times were simpler”? Another freedom taken away and people applauded! :person_facepalming:

Pornhub is righteous in the status blockage, for NOW. The only reason is the squeezing allowance for third party goers that are actively able to stream, download and recycled content.

Half the stuff you see is being reposted by another user, likely using that pornstars content and they rack up the stip. Not the actual user

Edit: I’m a woman, and I respect the hell out of my female/male content creators.

Anyone who doesn’t realize evangelism has taken a stranglehold on the Florida electoral system isn’t paying a damn bit of attention.

Was it De Santis who did this?

My 2 cents as a porn star myself is, they are right in doing it because children can easily get to a porn site. But they are also wrong because there are safeguard that can be implemented in computers so children dont get to those sites…

Ultimately it should fall on the parents.

Pretty soon we wont have access to porn in the United States anyways due to the Republicans banning it.

At least part of it is a way to further criminalize LGBTQ+ people. They view our very existence in and of itself as pornographic, and in their minds this is a way to push us out of society. They’ve said as much, and the Project 2025 framework also says this exact thing. It’s all about control.

That’s because in their world theocracy > patriarchy

This is what you get when you vote Republican.

I fucking love it. Men who voted for them are losing their minds over this.
