PIA vs. Proton VPN, Browser extensions

I’m currently using PIA and thinking about switching to Proton Unlimited. One thing I like about PIA are the browser extensions. With split tunnelling in Windows I can let a browser bypass my desktop VPN connection to country A while the browser extension connects the traffic from my browser to a VPN connection in country B. This is very convenient for getting around geoblocking in far away countries, like watching German Youtube channels only available in Germany, while still maintaining high speeds for my other applications. Is this possible with Proton VPN. And how do speeds compare to PIA?

Proton VPN browser extensions are not yet released:

We believe everyone deserves privacy online, which is why we’re working to develop Proton VPN apps for every device and platform. This led us to develop native Proton VPN browser extensions for the Firefox and Chrome browser families, which should be released for beta testing by the end of 2022. These extensions will make it even easier for more people to protect their browsing and bypass censorship with Proton VPN.

Is it forseeable when it will become available?

According to the quoted text above by the end of the year for beta testing. I dont have further information
