Can anyone help me set up PFsense to use L2TP VPN IOS 8. Is this even supported. I was told that IPSEC may need to be set up aswell. Can someone please advise/post a working configuration?
Why not use OpenVPN? It only requires you install an app on the phone and then works. It is incredibly simple to setup on pfSense and works wonderfully! As a bonus it works with Windows (xp on up), Mac OS X, and Linux.
I prefer to use the native VPN clients with devices.
I have the IPSEC mobile VPN working to my IOS8 iphone and also my mac. I’d like to get the L2TP over IPSEC tunnel working so I can use the native Windows client too.

I have a question about OpenVPN, if I may. I set it up awhile back and was running it on 443. Can you tell me what (if you know) the security implications of this?
Are you able to post the way you configured the tunnels and settings? Also what changes needed to be made to firewall for pass through?
Nothing is NSA proof, but for encrypting your wifi connection at the coffee shop, yea.
I’ve got no clue of any security implications other than it can usually get out of somewhat restricted networks because they don’t always block 443. Summer networks will shutdown based on the type of traffic vs the port.
