Monthly VPN recommendations megathread: the only place for mentioning specific providers

Since we get a lot of asking for VPN provider recommendations, we’re making this megathread a monthly occurrence (you’ll find the newest one at the top subreddit menu). It’s a chance for you to ask for or recommend your favorite provider.

When recommending a provider, you must mention at least a couple points for why you prefer it. Don’t just list VPN features that are common knowledge - explain why you chose it. Comments simply mentioning a provider’s name aren’t allowed. No affiliate links, links to review sites, or VPN provider websites. No shilling either.

You might also want to check out our comparison table. We update it regularly so you could find a provider that ticks all your boxes. There’s also a pinned special deals thread for when you decide.

Keep in mind this megathread will still be looked after by the mods.

Looking for a VPN that’ll give me a mainland chinese, DPRK or russian IP address

Gonna do some 4chan trolling, and i am in need of a VPN and i need one that’ll show my ISP as being either russian, north korean, or from the PRC. Which ones do that?

before anyone says “in b4 4chan blocks VPNS”, I have a 4chan pass, so VPNs work for me.

I use FastestVPN - it’s pretty fast (they have 10 GBPS speeds) which is one reason I use it. The main reason is because I actually don’t pay monthly for it, it’s a lifetime $20 payment which is actually really good IMO

Any Iranian who knows a working vpn on Bistnet? Preferably an app or a service that I can buy. Thanks.

Is there a VPN that allows me to access Twitter without it saying “we found some unusual activity” and locking my Twitter account and asking me to pass an arkose challenge (arkose is no problem) and use my phone to verify the account?

Hey, I currently have a Mullvad (for torrents) and ExpressVPN (for all my other devices and streaming) subscription. I also recently changed my antivirus plan and now have Kaspersky VPN as well. How does Kaspersky VPN compare to the other two? Mainly for streaming as that’s what I use ExpressVPN for, and I’m considering canceling that.

Forgive me. I’m new to vpn and do t want anyone tracking me when I do the dirtiest of deeds.
I pay for Google drive, snd my tier includes the Google one vpn.
Now, Google instantly scares me, but a vpn, is a vpn.

Can it be trusted? Or is there a service that truly wont track my dirty deeds?

With that said, I assume it’s safe to at least use the Google VPN on everyday activity when on public networks?

I have recently gotten into the VPN field. I’ve tried NordVPN first and found NordLynx to be fast and stable. Then I tried Expressvpn and Lightway. I like how fast, stable, and opensource lightway is. I had some trouble with google captchas yesterday but today was better. I am considering to stay with Expressvpn for now

I live in the US; however, I’m traveling to Canada for the next two months.

This means my Firestick - with ESPN+ - and my phone (Pandora) are not accessible. Additionally, I do subscribe to a streaming service that auto-bans if it detects more than one IP address on your account.

So, I *think* I’d need a VPN, so I could still see my ESPN+ — is that correct?

And, because of the other limitations, I need to have it installed on the router; not my devices, correct?

I’m also presuming that I can use a free VPN, since my goals are fairly low-hanging (I can check the megathread for recommendations).

This is all new - sorry for the newbie questions (but I *think* this is what I’ve gleaned so far)…

Hi all, I’m looking for a VPN with servers in all (or as many as possible) states of the United States. I don’t care about logs or even speed all that much, I just need a VPN that shows my IP as coming from a specific state, so I can check out the geo-targeted content of certain websites. I saw HideMyAss has a ton of US states, but not New Jersey which is specifically one I would really like my VPN to have. Any and all help is very much appreciated!

What would be the best vpn for piracy

I need a vpn with

-list of IP addresses you can pick per individual city

-browser extension (ideally)

Does anyone know one? I’ve tried Surfshark and ExpressVPN in the past, but even though they have multiple IP addresses per location, you can’t pick which one to connect to and are simply assigned the one you’re closest to.

Can anyone recommend VPNs that can work in China now? My Express VPN just doesn’t work in a recent few months. I’m thinking about Nord VPN, does it work in China?

I’m looking for a reliable VPN that is known to currently work in mainland China, and preferably available on both mobile and desktop. NordVPN says it does, but my friend has had no luck in getting it to work. Reviews for NordVPN also say that users can’t actually connect from mainland China. Tried obfuscated servers and many different nodes, but he can’t connect to anything.

Does anyone know of a reliable VPN that works in China? One that would allow for VOIP with no (or very little) interruption? Thanks.

Is there a VPN that could get around this? (plz see image) https://i.ibb.co/yYxFQbS/Captureff.jpg

Can anyone recommend what VPN (free or paid) still works on the iPhone in Russia.

How good is privadovpn? I’m looking at using it for free, since I don’t have a way to pay for a vpn at the moment.

Searching for a free VPN for registering and using Facebook. Any good option?

I want a VPN that lets me choose specific locations to pay for. For example, i just wanna stream US Netflix. Are there such VPNs out there? (Except Windscribe, I’m not being able to use PayPal with it anymore due to some technical issues)

I used Proton for months, but the kill switch failed and I got in trouble with my ISP for torrenting. Obviously, there are ways to resolve the issue, but the fact that the kill switch could fail in the first place is just unacceptable to me. Is there a VPN I could get where this problem would not arise?
