I browsed through this forum and others but could not really find what I was looking for. Long story short, we have a user, non admin, who has an iMAC in the office and a MAC book pro at home. This user, over VPN, needs to remote into their iMAC from their MAC book to do a lot of video editing when working remotely. The MAC book can’t handle the editing but the iMAC can. What solution are your users out there using or can you recommend? I have seen a few solutions such as Apple remote desktop, Jump Desktop, Remote Desktop for macOS, and others but looking for real world feedback and recommendations for the end user. Not opposed to paying for a solution if it is reliable.
*Mac. Media Access Control addresses probably don’t factor here.
Just use the built-in screen sharing, enable in Sharing in system prefs on the iMac, then use the Screen Sharing app on the Macbook.
If you need higher performance, Parsec.

For video editing, most people are using Parsec, Jump Desktop, or HP Anyware.
I have experience deploying and managing all 3, but I prefer Jump Desktop because of the low cost and ease of management. Just make sure you are subscribing to their Jump Desktop Teams version.
Whatever you choose it will be a poor user experience. AnyDesk, screenconnect etc can be setup to be always available but the video performance will still be slowly and uncomfortable.
Not sure why you think this. Screen sharing over a fast enough connection is a pretty good experience these days (whether VNC, RDP, nomachine…), even with the built-in options. Using something like Parsec will get you very close to a local experience.
