Hello, I am using Lineage OS 16 and the ProtonVPN Android app (from F-Droid). I have “Always-on VPN” enabled, as well as “Block connections without VPN” in Android settings.
With VPN disabled, there is the key icon in the taskbar and it says “Disconnected from always-on VPN”.
However, I am still able to access the internet. www.ip.me displays my true IP address. Shouldn’t I be prevented from accessing the internet?

That seems like a LineageOS issue rather than a ProtonVPN issue, since the killswitch in this case is run by android, not Proton.
try changing protocol to whatever it is not, (may need to turn of smart protocol)
Hey, LineageOS user here. Even I also faced the same issue. Sometimes I can access internet when disconnected, Sometimes cannot. Might be the issue with Lineage. Better to Turn off Mobile data when not using. That’s what I do untill its fixed in upcoming builds

Can’t control? Why, could you “have control” on official firmware released by Samsung or other manufacturers?
I use a completely open source custom Rom and got a full control upon my data being shared.

Yeah this is a valid point! I am using it to get Android 9 on a phone that is otherwise only updatable to Android 4 and was expecting some issues may arise.
