Is it worth keeping Norton Antivirus suite if it's already well integrated?

My elderly parent just paid “Norton” $899 for lifetime tech support of their 10 year old laptop. This is the second time this year something like this happened. I’ll be taking them through some more scam training, and they already did all the standard procedures after something like this happens.

They are very attached to Norton. They have bought nearly every add-on anyone ever suggested in pursuit of complete protection, to the degree of owning several different VPNs and anit-viruses from various companies.

What I want to know is if they are already signed up with Norton (the antivirus, lifelock, the VPN, the password manager, and probably some other features), is it worth keeping?

If it makes your parents feel better I think it’s fine. The problem with Norton is just that’s it’s really bloated and slows down your PC, not that it’s unsafe to use or anything.

Their PC would run better without it and it’s not really necessary so long as you have some level if internet-literacy but it’s not a big deal if they have it.

It’s crucial to regularly review the need for such services, especially for older devices that might not fully benefit from them.
