Is Cyberghost a safe vpn?

I used to use Hola! But that is unsafe now. I really wish i could afford private internet access but i cant sadly. So is cyberghost safe?

I would have recommended reading this very detailed and good VPN review from this year: Which VPN Services Allow Torrenting? * TorrentFreak – But I know a lot of these you probably cannot afford to use, since you mentioned already you cannot afford PIA.

At least you are not using Hola! anymore and aware of how bad it is though at least.

While the article doesn’t (sadly) cover CyberGhost this year, there are comments from people about CyberGhost that you might want to read over.

I’ll copy and paste these comments from others that stuck out to me that might interest, help you or not:

I’ve not found anything to complain about with CyberGhost. Speeds are great, connections stable (no frequent drops), and they’re legally based in Romania (making the evil of the US Federal regime & Copyright Cartel much harder to implement).

and here’s another (long) comment:

Well according to NSA, they are only logging foreign traffic to and from the us (the internet in itself) but if you break it down, american to american (vpn usa to usa subsciber) should be tossed out, however they say though they retain all encrypted info for analization/future decription. They then state that bittorrent info in itself doesn’t have much useful info for them to keep so they immediately toss it out (supposably as who can trust them at all). So if anything they say is true, and if they don’t monitor american to american (us) info and remove it as its foreign targets they are interested in however the data is encrypted, I guess its a 50/50. So in this case you can just use bittorrent by itself in us and it will be tossed out if they can be truthful at all (nsa). So they need to clarify what stipulations do they do (50/50? or entire since its us to us? Also facebooks ip is 31.13.74.1 Country:Ireland so they are storing facebook info as its from us if your in us to Ireland regardless of ssl as they can defeat it and have done so before. They also like to push phony updates to give you a fake certificate so they can pose as say facebook . com and get you to login using a front. Either way they are monitoring somehow even through hard drives NSA Has Planted Surveillance Software Deep Within Hard Drives Since 2001: Kaspersky | IBTimes

So take that and any other comments into consideration but it’ll probably be safe to use CyberGhost and I don’t necessary personally find them bad at all to use either. So probably give them a try since you need something free right now too.

Do you think free version is safe?

They wont sell my info or use me as an end node.

Also do you know which is better. TunnelBear or PIA?

Should be good there, there’s no being sure unless you use tor

Yeah im not trying to do some weird illegal shit i just want to be able to use Kodi and Popcorn Time without getting a notice from my ISP

You should be good then. If you want another option you could rent a VPS for 2.50/mo and get a dedicated connection and complete control over it.

Cool. Im actually not familiar with what a VPS is. Could you fill me in?

A company takes a huge dedicated server and make a bunch of little servers out of it. So its like a mini windows or Linux machine in the cloud usually used for VPNs or app development.

Thats pretty cool. Ill check it out. Do you recommend any certain provider?

OVH.com has them for pretty cheap, they only have servers in Canada and France though, that being said all their servers have 100Mb connections and like 10 ping to seattle
