Been on a circle jerk with Verizon and Apple on this. My gf and I have iPhone 13 pro Max’s and my boss has an iPhone SE. All of them are on the latest version of iOS and they are all on Verizon. On the 13’s I turn on the personal hotspot, connect my Windows laptop to it and connect to my work via VPN client. The client connects, but I can’t ping or access anything by IP or hostname. My boss does the same thing and it works. Anyone have an ideas? I’m one of the Network Engineers at my employer so there isn’t restrictions in place that would prevent me from doing this. Thoughts?
Edit of the things I’ve tried:
Disabled IPv6
Changed cell network to LTE on phone
Inserted my 4G lte card into the iPhone
Rebooted all the things
Reset network settings on the phone
Tried Bluetooth connectivity to the hotspot
Update:
Went to Verizon because calling them is about as fun as getting your genitals chopped off. Brought my work laptop into a store and ran the following tests:
- Hotspot using my phone
- Hot spot using Verizon employees phone (iPhone 13 Pro on 5G)
- Using another Verizon employees phone (Samsung something on 5G)
- Deleting all things 5G off my account and re-activating the 4G
Only thing that worked was the Android phone. So it appears Apple is blocking something…
