If you use a VPN you have to install and use it in the Secure Folder in order to protect your network there.

No, if you use it for the whole system, then that encapsulates the secure folder (as long as it is not split tunnelling by app name), unless you mean another user or work profile that has it’s own vpn profile set up. VPN profiles should work inside the secure folder too, but of course limited to that user.

I just found a thread. I am connected to my work’s Wi-Fi. It’s not like I do anything stupid when I’m at work, but like the stuff in the secure folder isn’t exactly the stuff I want showing up to my boss also, I keep my banking apps in the secure folder so I guess if I’ve used them on any public Wi-Fi networks that could have been troublesome

The secure folder network is separate from the regular non-secure apps network.

Think about it: If it wasn’t separate then the apps on the non-secure part of the phone, i.e. the regular apps, could spy on the secure folder apps and see what they were sending to the internet.

Anyway that’s what I discovered by checking the ip address with a browser by going to www.whatsmyip.org

Test it by:

  1. Check your ip address on www.whatsmyip.org

  2. Connect a VPN only on the regular (not Secure Folder part) and check your ip address again on www.whatsmyip.org
    It should be different from before.

  3. Now go to the secure folder and check your ip address on www.whatsmyip.org and you’ll see it’s not going through the VPN

So you have to install the VPN app also in the Secure Folder and connect to your VPN to make the Secure Folder go through the VPN

Doesn’t seem to be working that way for me. Chrome in standard profile is coming through the VPN. Chrome in the secure folder is not.

VPN client is Verizon’s Digital Secure VPN

Correct, need VPN connected in both, can see why, but it is annoying.

Same, did test this one as well, came with the same conclusion

VPN app should be installed inside the SF aswell to hide the IP

Good news is I installed VPN client in my secure folder, and that worked.
