I heard some people mentioned you can play Priconne JP on DMM w/o using a VPN, but I for one can only play the game when a VPN is active.
My question is “INSERT_TITLE” or will this be the type of situation where it’ll be a hit or miss depending on your internet?
Note: I can play PR JP w/o VPN on my phone using mobile data, but not w/ home internet w/o VPN.
EDIT: I reside in the US, so that may play a factor in answering my question.
EDIT(1): Upon the comments received, the likely case is whether your ISP has been blocked or not. It took around 8 months since I started for my ISP to get blocked.
If you live in the US you definitely do not need a VPN to use DMM for Priconne. Source: me. I’ve never used a VPN in my life because I’m dumb and don’t fully understand how to, but I just set up DMM and I can play no problem.
DMM player since last yr, had implemented IP restriction for their client.
As long as your IP address does not reside within Japan, you would not be able to launch the DMM client.
This is what I would also like to know. I used to be able to play Priconne JP without VPN on home internet and now I’m also on the same boat as you OP.
Additionally, on DMM PC, I used to only need the VPN to launch the game, but once the game is open, I can just turn off the VPN and play with my home internet. So I would really like to know how some people are playing JP, especially through DMM PC, without VPN. Does it have to do with location, considering I’m in the US?
I don’t think you can in the US anymore. In the past I know you didn’t need VPN, and also some people mentioned starting the game with VPN and then disconnecting the VPN once in game but that doesn’t work now either. Priconne now requires a VPN the entire time, this may only be for US IP addresses. Also not all VPNs work, mainly the ones where a bunch of people share the same IP. They get blocked sometimes Netflix style.
I live in the US and play the game through DMM Player. As far as I know, I never had to use a VPN to access the game. I do know that DMM does restrict some game titles based on region but Princess Connect should not be one of them.
Another never used a VPN and have never had trouble with DMM or Priconne JP. I just started playing after the EoS on the global server so perhaps things were different in the past? I use an ISP in the US so perhaps they treat things differently from one ISP to another?
the vpn usually give problems, if you have space on your cell phone I recommend downloading priconne using the quoapp apk or from the playstore itself (for this you must create a new japan account, which is complicated but not that complicated) I downloaded it with a Google account that I created with a location in Japan and a friend downloaded it with the quoapp apk, we have not had problems in the two weeks of the game and we do not need vpn
Assuming you don’t live in the US by your comment, that might just be the case. I’m in the same situation with r/Hanetsune being in the US having to rely on a VPN.
I hope that isn’t the case or it definitely implies I cannot play without the use of a VPN.
I am now convinced it depends on an ISP basis. When I started in February 2022, I could play w/o VPN, but somewhere around September/October 2022, I had to use a VPN to actually play. So I think I got ISP blocked from connecting to their JP server.
I guess this varies from person-to-person, or internet-to-internet (IP-to-IP). I did the method of having a VPN to launch DMM and close it when it launches, but every time I try to do something, I instantly get timed-out.
I’m in the US and have never used a VPN. DMM and Priconne work fine for me, so I honestly don’t think it is a hard requirement for US players. Something else is causing you problems, not your location. Might be your ISP or something else.
It may come from ISP like other said, maybe a firewall too (vpn using encryption and different, they aren’t necessarily analysed by firewall)
You can always try with different ISP (like using your mobile data by sharing network, work/school network etc.) to see if there is differences. Not like it can change anything if it come from ISP, not like you gonna change your subscription lol for a game that just need vpn.
I’m starting to come to that realization seeing this comment and various other comments mentioning ISP. Well, it’s not the end of the world as long as I have a VPN on.
