GlobalProtect Gateway for Android

Hi,

Is anyone using Global Protect for Android devices and connecting their VPN to On-Prem or cloud Palo Alto? What is your user experience like? Any issues?

What is the correct configuration for this on the Palo? Is it a typical Gateway/portal setup that is used for standard Windows VPN clients or is there another method that I am missing/not thought of? Do you have any recommendations for configuration?

I am in the process of configuring both MS Tunnel and GlobalProtect to compare the 2 VPN clients.
Has anyone compared the 2 VPN products? If so, what was the outcome?

It’s the typical portal/gateway setup. There isn’t a special configuration for Android clients. It’s like any other GP client except that you will have to have the GlobalProtect Gateway Subscription license to allow the GlobalProtect mobile app to connect.

Same with IOS. We have some contractors we let use it.

The only thing I’d note regarding configuration- it’s worth it to make a different portal Agent for Android/iOS devices so you can customize their experience a bit more (on demand versus always on, allow disable versus disable with ticket, etc).

All tailored per customer environment though

Sound advise. Thankfully I have configured a separate portal a while back whilst I was planning for the mobile devices coming on-board. (although this was purely a guess with a little bit of luck.) Your information has cemented my decision. Now its on to tailoring the config for the best experience.
