Hi all! So basically I have this issue that I live in a hostel all week where my internet is provided by the school. The school network blocks certain things, such as gaming, to keep students from gaming in class obviously. It doesn’t feel fair that I cannot game on my own private time outside of school due to their network, so I figured I’d make use of a VPN. Thing is, the network also blocks VPNs. But for some reason some things that are supposed to be blocked are available. Such as it blocks gaming, but Runescape is available. And as of such, I found one VPN that works for me, Goose, but they limit their free VPN to 500mb, which I reach within an hour or two playing certain games. Not to mention the VPN is actually too slow to game with. I’m a broke college student so I honestly cannot afford any kind of paid VPN. Any help finding a working vpn would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I wouldn’t go with any free VPN because if they’re free, they’re usually not good, and if they’re free, they’re data-mining you.
Gaming via VPN is also notoriously terrible and you’ll be lagging everywhere.
If you really want a VPN, I suggest doing some odd job, since stuff like Private Internet Access is only like $3-4 a month.
Honestly, stick to single player stuff.
A good VPN costs money, and if you want decent latency you also need to find one thats geographically nearby and performs better than is typical.
Even IF you manage that the filtering mechanisms in place are likely configured to introduce a degree of latency in order to discourage this kind of circumvention.
Your only choice really is to suck it up and pay for a quality VPN. They’re not that expensive and if you can’t afford it, just save your pesos until you can. A free VPN is going to be awful in comparison no matter how you look at it.
You can try this one
not sure if can still get 50GB free.
I’ve heard as of such, but I want to try to make it work somehow. Due to some private issues I currently cannot work a job or have any sort of income. And even if I did, my parents would keep it from me. Though thank you for the tip!
but theres no other way now if he cant pay for money and the hotel provides internet supported by the school which blocks him outside of school grounds during his free then he has to use a free version of it theres no other options so instead of questioning him to make another way to get money (which is a whole lot of work and time consuming for just getting money to pay for a vpn) why dont you actually help by looking for a free vpn, doesnt matter if it has more security or not its better to be able to play than not be able to play right
The one I’m currently using works fine, it’s a tad slower than I’d like, but it works. It’s he 500mb limit that’s troubling me. Honestly, as much as I’d like to I literally have nothing to save up with. Any money I get is due to my parents, I am in no position to work a job currently, and my parents will flip at me if they find out I paid for something like a VPN. But thanks.
I did try that site they mention but the site doesn’t work for me. I do not get the message that the site is blocked, I simply get a timeout on the site itself.
Basically one day and one off jobs, like getting paid to help someone move, or paid to do some landscaping for a business. Just a random job that you only work for a very short amount of time
If you can get some cash, you can buy VPN time on Private Internet Access with Amazon gift cards. Good luck man!
You think getting kicked out of college or banned from using their computers/internet is going to solve your problems?
Do your fucking school work so you can start living your own life and get away from your parents.
Ok, first of all: WOW, this is a response to something I said 5 months ago.
Second of all:
why dont you actually help by looking for a free vpn
Because what he is looking for doesn’t exist. He basically want’s something for nothing. A good VPN is costly to build, support, and maintain; providing that without any income simply isn’t possible. Most of the ‘free vpns’ you see are simplistic low bandwidth http/https affairs that generate revenue off of traffic. They are wholly unsuitable for gaming. He’s attending class, and staying in campus housing, games shouldn’t really be a priority for him anyway, but He’s got three options:
- Move out of the campus hostelry, and pay for his own internet.
- Spend money on a VPN.
- Stick to single player games while he’s studying.
They also have an extension for Chrome. Try to install that first, then visit the site.
I’m afraid I can’t, but thank you!
so you’re saying that he shouldn’t have any fun when he gets home from school just work 24/7 nonstop is that what you’re saying, if he’s at college that means he’s already doing school work it could to have fun for a little bit once in a while when you get free time for yourself.
you say that like its so fucking easy and that it will be over after an hour later, why don’t you try putting on his fucking shoes for once before making a bitch ass opinion as if you know him saying that he’s a lazy ass, no he didn’t come here asking for help just so you can make a bitch ass comment thinking would help solve his problems immediately, if he says that he cant then it means that he cant and if you don’t like it then get the fuck out
