My internet speed is 230mbps which is equivalent to 28 MB/s.
when I try to download a game from steam or any other app, my download speed is 8 to 13 MB/s.
I am using an ethernet cable that supports up to 1000mbps.
why does this happen and is there a way to fix it ?

I have 500+ mbps link speed (whatever that means) but get 1-2 mbps download speed… its shocking
I had the same issue. My work laptop was getting slow download speed and normal upload. Every other device connected to my router was had super fast download. I work for a tech company so myself and multiple others troubleshooted for a week. We tried multiple routers
And determined it was a issue with the router. Other routers and mobile networks did not limit download speed. TWIST! Just before buying a new router I realize that the only difference in all other devices on my network were that they had ExpressVPN installed on them. I did not install ExpressVPN on my work computer because we have a VPN we use for work. Once I installed ExpressVPN onto my work computer My download speed went back up to normal. I do not know why. This is not an ad for ExpressVPN. This is what I did to solve the issue for now. If I disconnect the VPN on other devices they also get slow speeds. Does anyone know what’s happening?
when i do a internet speed test i get 90 mbps download speed, decent, but while im downloading something on my browser i get 500 kbps download, why???
I may have found a solution; turn on “random hardware addresses” in network settings…
I am using a 5G wireless connection and was getting the same issue; speed test said download speed was 200+mb/s but was capping at <1mb for an actual download

i run a speed test getting near 300mbps but when downloading only getting 50-100 max
has anyone solved this problem? speed testing says i get around 50 Mbps but when i download literally anything, i only get about 2-4 Mbps download speed. ive been having this problem on my pc for al long as i can remember.
I know im late but restarting my router fixed it. I have no idea why but hey ill take it from 2 to 30 Mb/s
My Xbox which is in the same house downloads at 700mbs but my pc which is stronger and faster in every way downloads at 200kbps and my Xbox is not plugged into the internet (I have an Xbox series x)

I did a speed test and I get around 300 mbps on download and 170 mbps on upload but I am trying to download faceit and it is only downloading at .4 mbps. Any fixes yet?
i switched regions to New York and it fixed it, it was in Washington DC
I mean, if you’re using wi-fi, and if your router isn’t in the same room as you, that could be why. I had this exact problem today, I subscribed to an internet provider and naturally I got the 1000 mbps one. When I tried it out, I got 50 mbps, which was a real far cry from the advertised 1000. Then I thought of running it through ethernet. Best thing I did, now I’m getting around 750 to 950 mbps.
Obstacles for Wi-fi are important, and it certainly kills internet performance.
The Ethernet cable is 20 meters in length, which is quite massive, but hey, fast internet 
i usually get 10-20mbps download speed (peak at 300mbps) on my 30mbps wifi. but suddenly i got 600kbps avarage download speed. shits crazy

my internet speed is 225mbps, around 25MB/s. however, the download speed on google chrome averages to about 300kbps. is there anyone that has found a solution?

my internet download speed normally is like 800mbps and i can download anything in the matter of minutes but rn im trying to download a file, ive tried different browsers but I cant get above 170KB/S … are you kidding
Unplugging Router from Power fixed it for me.
