Is there a way to download FortiClient with VPN Only by using just Powrshell? I’m aware that I can download FortiClientOnlineInstaller.exe, but it prompts you to select a complete or vpn only install.
I actually talked to a couple fortinet reps and upper tier support folks on this last June… I also found it quite silly that there was no simple command line option to select the VPN only install option for the forticlient…
In short, there’s not a direct way to auto download or direct install “vpn only” version of forticlient direct from fortinet. The simplest option, if you’re OK with the ssl-vpn is to use the slimmer, lighter version of the ssl-vpn client which can be downloaded from your support account… alternately with a bit of googling, there are instructions to be found for editing the regular forticlient installer msi to only install the VPN features (assuming you know or are willing to learn ORCA or InstEd, etc)… finally, if you pay for forticlient licenses, you can use fortinet’s installer customizer.
Check out this video, but most especially the comments if you don’t have FortiClient licenses.
There’s no other way to do it? Would I be able to pass that I want VPN Only as a parameter?
I mean, you have a couple of ways right there. Watch the video, read the comments, figure it out.
