Reddit doesn’t allows playing of embedded youtube videos when VPN is active, and they no longer display a “Watch on YouTube” button.
While looking for a workaround I noticed that right-clicking on the embedded video renders a popup menu that includes a NordVPN menu with a menu item “Disable VPN for this domain.”
Does anyone know what this does? As far as I know, the NordVPN application does not allow whitelisting for specific domains. Split tunneling applies to applications, not web sites.
Is there a way to manage whitelisted domains? If I disable VPN for the Reddit domain, is there a way to undo this?
Using Firefox browser
There is a Nord extension for Firefox that does what you’re looking to do.
I’m using the extension, which is why the context menu appears. Let me ask it a simpler way - if I disable VPN for the Reddit domain using the popup menu that appears when I right click, will the same menu allow me to re-enable VPN later?
Yes, you’ll be able to enable the VPN again from the same menu after you’re done
Thank you so much! It’s just weird to me they don’t allow you to manage this from within the app.
Yeah, I can see how it would be a little tricky to do it within the app. It could whitelist or blacklist the entire app, but as far as subdividing traffic, it would need the app to be more specific. But I’ve definitely had your concerns, lol, my job won’t allow me to log in if I’m on VPN
