Hello,
I’m trying to setup a new WiFi network for certain devices in a home to exclusively use a vpn for connecting to the internet (regional requirement).
I found a few posts saying I would need to create a policy based routing, but then others say you need to create a new vlan?
More importantly, with the equipment available to me, my question is if it’s even possible?
UCK g2+ running the network app
Is a unifi gateway required to accomplish what I’m trying to do? (Like the cloud gateway ultra)
Thanks

The UCG-Ultra is capable of that in that you can set up VLANs and connect devices to the VLANs via Ethernet ports on switches and creating a WiFi network to use that VLAN as well. The VLAN than then be the source for traffic going to an Interface which normally is the WAN, but if a Client VPN is created, it should show up as an available Interface in the Policy-Based Routing.
I’m currently using Policy-Based Routing to route traffic from a device to WAN2 since I have a second ISP set up for dual WAN in fail over mode.
Sorry maybe I should clarify, I want to create a WiFi network to use a VPN, so that all devices connecting to the WiFi network go through the vpn.
Do I need to get a gateway to create the above?
Yes!
The WiFi will need to be mapped to a VLAN network, which then can have traffic routed to a VPN client which uses a VPN server in the cloud somewhere.
Bummer, i was hoping to do this without buying something else…especially since its out of stock lol
Thanks either way
