I’m having trouble connecting to Google on LibreWolf when using the Mullvad VPN proxy, though it works fine on the Mullvad browser. This isn’t caused by extensions. Sometimes the issue flips: Reddit is inaccessible on the Mullvad browser but works on LibreWolf, yet LibreWolf never connects to Google while channeled through the VPN proxy. It should go without saying that YouTube doesn’t work either.
Am I misconfiguring something? Is using both a proxy and VPN in the browser excessive? The Mullvad browser is more reliable, but I prefer LibreWolf for its extensions. Constantly switching between them defeats my goal of browser isolation.
For what it’s worth, I can access Google using LibreWolf right now. I’m using Proton VPN, if that makes a difference.
Sometimes Google serves the visitor a captcha before allowing access when it detect a VPN connection. And some privacy settings can break captchas. In case that might be what’s happening here.
why are you using google in the first place just use startpage
Are you using proxy settings in your browser? I can access it when I disable them.
I’m in the process of “cutting the cord” and have been using DuckDuckGo as my primary search engine. I’ve noticed many websites I use or used to use don’t work properly with LibreWolf, VPNs, or proxies. I’m still at a beginner level in understanding how all this works and want to figure out why these issues are happening.
No proxy settings; just RFP and HTTPS-only, default level. The Proton VPN is via a separate self-contained application.
honestly good for you for trying to not have these big companies have all your data and starting out through this but something to know is I’ve heard that a lot of people just don’t like duckduckgo because it’s NOT private I haven’t like read the terms of service unlike I did for proton so I don’t know if duckduckgo is even private but use what you want and do your own research
