By passing YoutubeTV app on TV or IPAD for regional sports

Hi All,
I currently have a fire tv and Youtubetv app as well as subscribed services to NordVPN. I successfully sync/use other networks across the US but youtubetv app catches it every time and will not let use the VPN service successfully. Specifically NBA LEAGUE PASS. I purchased the NBA subscription but I cannot view my local team because of blackout restrictions. How can I use NORD VPN to bypass these blackout rules? Thanks in advance!

I had Nord set to Los Angeles for a really long time and recently Amazon Prime suddenly recognized that I was using a VPN. Fiddled with a few different cities and when I changed it to Seattle it worked fine again. You’ve probably already tried changing cities but I thought I’d mention it.

You might need to connect NordVPN to a server in a different place before starting the app in order to get around YouTube TV’s blackout limits. Clear the app’s cache or use a browser that has VPN turned on. If YouTube TV still sees the VPN, try connecting to a different server location or getting help from NordVPN’s support team. They might have computers that are better for viewing.

Watch in a browser rather than the app even when connected to an American node. The app does a better job of recognizing VPNs. I was just in Europe and found this was the only way I could watch YTTV. However, even in a browser, I was unable to watch broadcast network channel programming live because it thought I wasn’t in my “home region” even though I was connected to a node in my home city. I had to wait until shows were fully recorded and in my library.

Youtube tv used physical location for most cable channels like abc.

I guess I’ll keep changing cities but so far all the ones I’ve tried get picked up. Thank you

Browser catches everything too :frowning:

Interesting. I used Firefox and had no issues as long as I connected to a US node before launching it. Although one time, I was connected to an Italian node and it caught me. But, I deleted the browser cache of everything Google and switched over to a US node and it worked fine.
