A reminder to VPN and Chill during the Rolex 24

Don’t USAians have some subscription for races ?

That said the RSL/IMSA radio crew also drones on about nothing at times as well, but the advantage there is no commericials

I think the interviews with brand representatives are their way to earn money. Personally, I could do without those but it’s an acceptable compromise, especially because they don’t cut the video feed and pause the interview when something major happens on track.

I couldn’t get Opera to work last season. It might have been a skill issue.

Not on Firefox with uBlock Origin

I thought YouTube inserts ads right into the video stream these days. (I’m in the lucky position to be part of a YT Premium family plan. That’s why I honestly don’t know.)

It’a also obviously ad free with youtube premium. I tried to avoid it for years, but this year I was working in the garage a lot and using youtube just to get the audio feed of SRO races so I could listen live. The ads were just way too annoying, so I plonked down the money. I’m glad I did. I hate having another sub, but I enjoy a lot of the SRO content and it’s all basically youtube only.

I think IMSA could rip a page out the F1 playbook: Charge a flat fee per-year for full access, no ads, no BS. I am not sure their audience numbers can allow for that just yet, but I personally enjoy the F1TV model a lot.

So nord vpn works with firestick? I use nord and would totally get a firestick if that’s the case.

debating between Nord and Proton at the moment. Cheers

I’ve had to do something similar to you with my phone and my nvidia shield. I run mullvad on both with LAN access enabled, that allows both devices to still be able to talk to each other so Chromecast works directly without any other tweak. Not sure if other VPN providers have similar functionality.

I am familiar with that crew. They are the track announcers at Road Atlanta and Daytona I believe.

Only for the NBC version of races, which does shit like cut to commercials on the formation lap of races.

Imsa.tv blocks the Opera VPN IP addresses. Opera + youtube feed works, but is prone to buffering.

they haven’t gotten that evil yet

I think that’s not implemented yet, or at least not to everyone. At least, I’m using uBlock, and it works perfectly on pretty much any site, not a single problem with YT in a year or so.

It’s a matter of time that they start to insert the ads into the video stream, but it seems they’re still testing it.

F1TV is what sports streaming should be.

I miss NBC TrackPass. It was $3 a month and allowed for commercial-free viewing of all the IMSA races. It is total BS there is no F1TV-like model available for IMSA these days.

Yes they actually just have an app on fire stick. You just have to download it and make an account and pay for it. (Feel free to google to confirm)

I use Proton and it’s reliable and fast enough.

I can’t speak to Nord as I’ve never used it.

Surfshark is what I use, but I don’t need a VPN because RoBellUs doesn’t acknowledge the existence of IMSA

So no ads on IMSA TV ?
