A reminder to VPN and Chill during the Rolex 24

AFAIK any non-North American. I live in Germany and can just watch the races on Live Video – imsaradio.com as well as YouTube, so that should be a possible VPN endpoint for 2025 as well.

I find the NBC coverage depends on who’s on air. Some of the commentators drag on and talk about nothing racing related. Others, especially the ones with a driving history tend to keep it related to the race or at least whats going on the garages/motorhome lot as a participant.

That said the RSL/IMSA radio crew also drones on about nothing at times as well, but the advantage there is no commericials

I think the one in the Opera browser does… or at least did. Not sure of the bandwidth for HD though.

I pay 60$ per year for TunnelBear. Works great for me. Can’t stand commercials and with the WEC app we can’t watch Le Mans or COTA without it. Absolutely worth it. Peacock is horrid.

Proton VPN has a free option that will work.

I’ve used Touch VPN (free google chrome extension) in the past and it has worked fine.

I’ve been using one called Windscribe for years for racing specifically. They give me 10gb a month which is usually more than enough to watch the race…but you can find promos out there for 30gb for free. Think the one I used lasted 6 months! Casting to my tv from my phone doesn’t work cause I think it pulls the network from the tv. So I just have an old laptop I hook up to the tv to watch it usually.

Urban VPN is free but tracks by default. I use only the browser extension to not expose my other data traffic and opt out of everything they offer.

Like seriously I can never pull up imsa.tv on my phone for some reason

Live Video – imsaradio.com is an alternative. The stream is the very same as on imsa.tv. YouTube was a bit spotty in 2024. I think they simply forgot to live stream a few session there.

Not on Firefox with uBlock Origin

What VPN? I’ll be at Daytona 24

Truer words have never been spoken

It’s all about the all mighty dollar, it’s the only thing that matters in the US

The way I do it is pretty complicated but works. I use firefox with the nord vpn extension so only my browser is on a vpn, then I fullscreen that on one of my three screens, and use chrome browser to cast the ‘screen’ to my nvidia shield in the other room.

Doesn’t work for casting unless the device you’re connecting to has a vpn. There are some out there for fire stick like nord, or you can sideload some of them. I just stream in on my pc with an hdmi to my tv.

I use nord but I’m sure there are plenty of cheaper ones that can easily handle an HD stream.

UrbanVPN is free without data cap but by default tracks user behavior. You can opt-out. I use the browser extension and only activate it when I wanna watch Formula E.

It’s an opinion thing but I enjoy the announcers on imsa tv more than I do the network feed, especially John Hindhaugh and Shea Adam. The only network commentator I really enjoy is Calvin Fish.

Yes than No, IMSAtv uses the Radio Lemans crew. Honestly they are for most part better, and don’t spend as much time talking about random non race stuff.

Odd thing to say in a subreddit about a North American series…
