Would a chrome-extension VPN be enough for me to safely watch a movie on a pirated site without my ISP finding out?

As the title says, I have a VPN installed but its a chrome extension, so will that be enough to hide my activity from my ISP?

Check https://ipleak.net/ If your ip doesn’t show up then yes.

Why wouldn’t you just VPN at the router. What do you gain or lose from doing so?

Totally NOT. Browser “VPNs” are just proxies. If you dont change your DNS too for example your ISP would still know. Also browser extension VPNs randomly disconnect and then automatically switch to no proxy again, and leak your information randomly that way. Not safe and dangerous to use! Thanks, I’ll check it out

Im not sure how to do that

So watching a movie on a website ( without downloading it) would be just fine then?

I actually have a raspberry pi, but how would I go about using it as a vpn?

You need to have a VPN account of course somewhere, paid of free which allows to connect via OpenVPN or wireguard, then you can use a linux router to connect and then connect from your devices to the router.
