Beware roaming on foreign cell service while in Cuba, without some kind of plan in place. American telcos charge crazy prices for data if you connect from Cuba. Like $2/MB. You want a Cuban SIM if you connect your phone. There are one or two esims that work as well, but somewhat more expensive data, and perhaps not as solid a connection as the physical Cuban one.
What esims work in cuba? Last i was there you could only buy physical SIMs
hi! thanks for the feedback! which VPN do you currently use? Im going to Habana tomorrow and I need to use zoom as well, just like you!
which VPN are you currently using for Zoom?
It’s US-connected services that censor Cuba online, not the other way around. The Cuban government censors very little. Only a few political sites.
Thank you for your help !
La Habana has it easy, in the rest of the country we’re fucked, yesterday I only had 3 hours of electricity during the day, their info is in fact, up to date.
Plus the Internet is better in Havana. Not so much for everyone else.
The lights are on in Havana, but the net is kind of… meh. Sometimes it’s pretty decent, sometimes it’s unusable. I typically get about 3Mb/s where I live in Vedado. But not always.
Those are salty Cuban Americans, that don’t want people to go to Cuba, because “supporting communism”
Pues yo estoy en la habana desde hace 57 años y el consejo que tú estás criticando porque te crees experto de tres días es lo más acertado que le han dicho al señor. Mejor que no venga!
Perhaps the resort has a generator but the phone company (which provides Internet) goes dead during an outage so you may have power but not 4G, DSL, or wifi with internet.
This doesn’t sound like unethical tourism to u? Go to Gaza next but make sure to bring a hard hat and a generator, LOL
Tha F#ck you know where that guys is going?
Right know Cuba is in a crisis, the black outs are for 23 hours in some places, 3 days on others, ofcourse the Capital Havana, is different, but is happening.
EVen with electricity, the internet connection is the worst of all American.
A shitty video call, will make him lose the opportunity for sure.
Telling people to bring their own starlink or generators is nonsense.
It was sarcasm.
The hotels had power, via their own generators I suppose. But you didn’t mention the internet. How was that?
Lol don’t listen to the fear mongering, I’m in Varadero right now, wifi works great, I’m able to access all social media platforms, and I’ve used video chat through Facebook messanger. Only thing that doesn’t seem to be working is a mobile game I play called Conflict of Nations.
Sorry I should I have clarified - I’m in Canada and have no issue using my data plan as normal in Cuba through the Canadian service providers , I pay $16 CAD per day to access it.
i use surfshark, unlimited vpn and proton vpn. I would recommend using proton vpn
Express VPN, I hear good things about Proton VPN as well
yea right. Tell me again how my own country works
