they do have a point with the restrictions though. i regularly have to run through nordvpn to access certain regular sites
Living in a country where medium to high-censorship (whitelisting websites) apply, the above statement are utter bullshit. I can access almost all websites, except for those certain local websites whose blocking foreign IP address (even so I can still access it by multihopping with local proxy).
I don’t know why review websites giving exaggeratedly so much emphasize in the VPN ability to unblock streaming feature, as if it’s the sole only reason why people subscribing VPN (Surprise surprise, most of us here in developing country choosing VPN not because of that).
p much lol, I prefer seeing mullvad spending on security audit over deal with those business
Not totally unaffiliated, but strict criteria and transparent regarding affiliations.
I tried starting one once. Cost of acquiring traffic > amount of money Id have made by being honest and fair.
People who click through and choose mullvad just dont make you any money, so to make money you had to guide them towards overpriced crappy services with decent affiliate cuts.
Economically honesty just didnt work.
Biased website.
“We have compared 185 different VPN providers, but our strict criteria left only the four best providers.”
from these 4 one is a paid ad
so the “strict criteria” goes as far as “pay me”
To name a few which affect me: Valorant’s store, myanimelist, hoyolab
They are clear and transparent about it, and the strict criteria still applies. The site is very good and all content Is open source and managed on GitHub.
The site isn’t primarily a VPN review and everything they cover is well researched and managed by pull requests reviewed by the community. They have also been quick to remove their recommendations when unfavourable terms or features are added. I do find it surprising they accepted a sponsorship, but at least it’s transparent and other good, privacy respecting options are listed (such as Mulvad). While it’s not perfect, it’s still one of the better and more comprehensive general privacy sites out there.
and the strict criteria still applies.
no , they include the paid ad as “strict criteria” so … yeah nord is by far from 176 VPN not in the top 4 100%, i review VPN for a non biased run on donations and patreon based money website
Nord VPN got Plenty of issues like their Splittunneling is utter buggy in some cases simply switching it to “on” without any further adjustments kills 100% of ipv6 to ipv4 conversion and more.
