I’m going to install an Eero system in a house in the Carribean and wanted to use a VPN so everything in the house ‘goes back to the US’ for use with TV streaming providers…
Rather do a device by device approach; I’ve heard that you can install a device/router upstream of the Eero system so all of the IP addresses used by the house go through the hardware VPN?
Any thoughts / recommendations? I don’t necessary need or want a wifi router with VPN (Linksys WRT3200ACM) since I’ll being using the eero Mesh wifi…
thanks! - appreciate any feedback / recommendations.
A SBC like a raspberry pi 4 (with usb dongle) or nanopi r4s would work well here. They can handle routing up to 1 gig. You’d put your eeros in bridge mode and let the SBC interface with your ISP.
Another option would be to use a smart DNS to bypass the geolocation lock so you can access your tv streams from US. I’ve been using this with eero where I’ve changed the dns and I’m able to select which US state I want the tv providers to point to each service from the UK. Been working great so far, send me a DM and I’ll send you the link. I think it’s about 40 dollars for annual or 4 dollars a month for rolling monthly payment.
Purple should be cheaper once it is generally released, the options cheaper than that don’t have a router mode and rely on some arp spoofing / overlay implementation to intercept traffic.
