This is what ChatGPT has to say about NordVPN, Mullvad, and Proton. I don’t really like how much advertising NordVPN does (it’s hard to find a video about them that they’re not a sponsoring) and the other two I’ve never heard of until today. I have a small online business that I want to protect as well as using it for personal use.

If you can please lmk which is your favorite or suggest a 4th if you have another recommendation. (And your experience with it if possible.) Thank you!

NordVPN

NORD VPN NEGATIVE
When downloaded from the Amazon app store it doesn’t have the kill switch option that it does when downloaded from other app stores

Now that there are public available DoH DnsOverHttps servers to encrypt DNS requests, the only reason why I would use a VPN is just to access geo-based local content, everything else is redundant (at least for me). With DoH, i can easily bypass ISP’s IPTV restrictions for instance.

For geo-based content, If for some reason you would need a static IP, NordVpn has more locations to choose form and a better price than everyone else from what I have researched before. For normal VPN with non-static IP, you can chose Proton, Mullvad or even least known names, not an issue

Assuming ChatGPT is correct is a huge mistake. Even ChatGPT itself says it can be unreliable. Having said that, I have used NordVPN, CyberGhost and AirVPN and by far AirVPN is the best. It’s a not-for-profit as well. Set up is a bit more difficult than NordVPN or CyberGhost but I find that it works much better.

I like VPN services that support the WireGuard protocol and provide a fixed (private) IP. I also prefer setting up VPN on my router for all connected clients versus setting up VPN on individual devices.

I’ve been using NordVPN through my Ubiquiti UDM-SE router client with WireGuard, but Nord does not officially support WireGuard, they use their own flavor of WireGuard called NordLynx or they want you to use the OpenVPN protocol. However, there are several resources that can help you create a WireGuard config file for Nord on UniFi routers.

I figured that, chat gpt isn’t always accurate, is there anything specific that sticks out to you as being false? Thank you for your suggestions, I’ll have to look into IVPN.

ETA: Chat said that Mullvad is slower than Nord and Proton? Idk if they’re allegedly a second or two slower or minutes.

I feel like I keep getting conflicting information about different vpns and whether or not it’s even necessary; it’s difficult figuring out what the right solution is. So I really appreaciate your response! Thank you so much, I will definitely look into AirVPN!

Yeah it was conflicting for me too! haha The good thing is a few offer free trials so take advantage of the trials, give them a go and see how it goes. But so far, I find AirVPN to be the best, especially because of their mission and values.
