Many indian streaming providers are now blocking VPNs (tried windscribe / nord / express vpn and all seem to be now blocked)
I’m complete newbie to VPS, but it seems one option would be use a VPS and create my own VPN with static Indian IP which would (hopefully) not be blocked. What is the cheapest / easiest way to go about this? Any pointers would be very helpful, especially it you explain it like you would to a 10 year old
Google Cloud Is your friend. Setup vpn on it. Check tutorials on YouTube.
I followed a youtube tutorial and managed to set up an openvpn client on google cloud. Even though I select region as southeast asia (mumbai) for the VPS - it seems google only gives you a US ip address, hence can’t bypass indian georestricted content.
I cannot figure out a way to get an IP address which can unblock indian content on GCP - if I’m missing a trick do let me know.
I have it and it works fine for me. Not sure what you are missing.
Since I"m a complete novice, i may have made an error. However I think I’m connected via VPS and OpenVPN.
- I selected VPS asia-south1-c (it showed this as Mumbai when I was setting it up) and it gaveto me an external IP address of 34.93.xxx.xxx
- Before I connect via OpenVPN if I check my IP it shows 82.xxx.xxx.xxx (which is my home IP address). Once I connect OpenVPN and check what is my IP it shows the IP address of google external server as 34.93.XXX.XXX but location of that IP is in USA (even though the VPC is in india)
If someone can point me to what I need to correct, I’d be happy to give it another go
