Can someone recommend a good free VPN I can use when using public Wi-Fi? I currently use VPN Proxy Master, but the number of ads I have to go through before it starts running has gotten much worse, and sometimes the ads have audio which can lead to embarrassing moments!
I know, sometimes there are VPNs tied to web browsers – I use DuckDuckGo for searches and Firefox for web browsing Tx!
There are quite a few of them if you search around. I’m not sure which are better than others; personally I have been using PIA (privateinternetaccess) for years at this point since I keep re-upping during the multi-year black friday deals they put out. It does exactly what I need it to do, I like that it has a kill switch if it disconnects, and I never had issues with it. I also like that it has an app for all my devices.
Others I’m aware of are Nord, expressvpn, surfshark…etc. Once you search a few of these, others will pop-up to help you narrow down what is the best for you. Most should have trials too so you can test it out.
I use this vpn “Free vpn by free vpn org tm”
You just need to watch a certain amount of ads depending on how much you want to use the vpn
For
30 min you need to watch 4 ads
2 hours 8 ads
24 hours 12 ads
It’s good, it hasn’t given me any problem
Have you tried 1.1.1.1 from Cloudflare? I’ve been testing Warp and it does a good job masking your IP and speeds are fast. It doesn’t allow you to change locations to other states/countries like other VPNS but has no ads. The location sites will see will be the closest Cloudflare server to your current city. But for most purposes its masking is good enough.
It’s a VPN that will encrypt your traffic on any network. I’ve found the speeds to be very good. The only thing it doesn’t do is allow you to change your location to another country or state. If you check your IP address while using it will show the approximate city you are in but will mask your IP and location. I’d trust it over using any of the free VPN services out there. I think it’s even better than the paid VPN options as far as speed goes. Just make sure you enable the warp option. The paid version, Warp+, offers some faster routes but not really worth it for general usage.
Correct; the other option I would trust that is technically free (if you have the knowledge & gear to do it) is just self-host a VPN at your house, there are quite a few ways to do this but this would be strongly dependent on the OPs technical knowledge, their home network…etc. That’s as far as “free” I would go, that is trustworthy.
