VPN and sales tax questions

Hi! I’m based in the UK and looking to buy a BAB online for my partner in Utah. I can use a VPN to access the American site - will I be able to order via this method as well so I can ship it straight to him?

And how does sales tax work in Utah? I’m hoping to buy around $100 worth of stuff but it won’t show me the sales tax. I don’t want to commit until I know I can afford it lol

I don’t know anything about VPN access, but sales tax is going to depend on the address in Utah where the order is being sent.

In Utah, there’s a state sales tax of 4.7%, but cities and counties can also add their own local sales tax to the state tax, which can add another few percents to the order. A 10% tax is the highest I’ve seen personally, but most are around 7-8%.

My state has a 6% sales tax and a 1.5% local tax, so it’d be an extra $7.50 on that $100 order.

Just fill up the cart, search for sales tax in Partner’s City, UT, then multiply the order total by that percentage (4.7% is .047, fyi), and you’ll get the total amount of sales tax charged (round up to two decimals).

Thank you! I think I’ve got it. That’s quite complicated lol, I wasn’t aware of the city’s tax

It depends some places have local taxes, others don’t. My hometown just had the state tax so it was quite a shock when I moved somewhere with one!

My partner’s city does, apparently. It’s a little over 7% in total, which honestly seems high to me but then I don’t understand why they don’t just standardise it and add it to the original price. I assume that’s what we do here in the UK
