Users of Mozilla VPN, what are your thoughts on it?

Mozilla VPN just became available here in ireland and I am just at the end of my contract with PIA.

Is it worth moving to?

Works fine, and you help support a good browser.

I love Mozilla VPN, works pretty flawlessly and supports Mozilla

ITT: just use Mullvad it’s cheaper

I’m always shocked at how, let’s say not very smart, people can be.

I mean… The whole point of Mozilla VPN is to support… Mozilla and have something else in return (instead of just donation).

Mozilla has made a deal with Mullvad VPN, so basically their VPN is just Mullvad with Mozilla branding. I would just use Mullvad because you don’t have to commit for long subscription periods just to get a good deal.

Thanks for the info folx. I have a few months left with PIA so I’ll probably give Mozilla VPN a go then and if it works well I’ll keep it

Never had a chance to try

It’s virtually unusable. The servers go down every few minutes. The kill-switch doesn’t kick-in properly either. It’s really bad.

Sigh…if it only has a better pricing for the subscription and in Canadian dollars.

I’m sure it works great on desktop but on Android it’s kind of subpar. Lots of reviews that it doesn’t work half the time and doesn’t support useful features like split tunneling, auto location selection, etc.

Some people have been looking for ways to support Mozilla so paying the same or a little more is ok.

That being said, where I am Mozilla is cheaper than Mullvad.

I want to clarify that I’m not against people using Mozilla’s VPN if they want to support Mozilla. Honestly, it’s a great choice. I guess I didn’t really think of that side before, and I agree that it’s a great way to support Mozilla. However, I don’t particularly appreciate when people start calling each other “not smart” just because they don’t happen to mention your point. Instead of making it personal, you could have just argued your point of view and left it there.

I mean the whole point of mozilla vpn is supporting mozilla…basically in donations you dont get anything in return, but this way you can support mozilla and get a vpn in return

you can access split tunnelling through “network settings → app permissions”

i’m sorry it doesn’t work for you on android but it does the job for me just fine

I’m sorry if I hurt you, but I just don’t understand why anyone would come on r/Firefox and say : don’t use the Mozilla VPN just use Mullvad because you don’t want to “commit for long subscription periods just to get a good deal”. Y’know as if Mozilla is scamming you by making you pay more.

People aren’t stupid, if they choose Mozilla VPN they know what they’re getting. Coming here and saying that is maybe not “stupid”, but it’s lacking in etiquette.

It’s fine. I’m using both Firefox and Mullvad myself, so I was only sharing my point of view. Also, I’m a big fan of Mullvad, so maybe I’m a bit biased there. Maybe my answer wasn’t the best because I was giving this image that you shouldn’t use Mozilla VPN even though it is still a great option, especially if you want to support Mozilla. I guess my original answer was aimed more at people who might not know about the Mullvad Mozilla deal and are just looking for a great privacy-oriented VPN. Still, I can absolutely understand why someone, especially at this subreddit, is willing to pay more and go with Mozilla VPN.
