Tried to sign up and they snuck NordPass into my cart

I’m looking for a new VPN provider, and thought I would try NordVPN.

I saw their two-year bundle for $89, clicked on it and entered my payment info.

Instead of a confirmation screen, they instantly charged my card but for almost double the amount.

They put two years of NordPass into my cart without my asking for it, even though this wasn’t required and wasn’t indicated when i clicked on the VPN service to buy.

I chatted with customer service to get that part refunded, and they would only refund the entire “bundle”.

Now the whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth and seems really shady. I’m not sure this is the kind of company i want to trust.

Am I being too sensitive? Or is that BS?

Their “limited” offer, is always the same price. So you can refund the bundle and buy it again but be sure that the option for any other software is opted out.

I’m always wondering what made NordVPN turn to these shitty practices. When I started using it back in 2018 it was the best.

Similar shifty behavior with the auto-renew. You have to specifically ask them (over email or chat) to turn it off.

You should refund now before it’s too late.

I’m quitting this POS ASAP. I’m moving to protonvpn and downloading my vault into bitwarden.

They’re actively destroying everything that built them up ranging from security first protocols to in-app exclusive operations.

If you can refund, do it. Otherwise, don’t buy anymore than you need.

I’m going to use ProtonVPN or not be lazy and finally setup openvpn. I’m getting real sick of high quality companies going to shit for cash

Thanks, that’s good to know.

Send an email requesting it, if they don’t comply issue a charge back with your bank.

For any service there should be a clear “Cancel my account” button and at most a confirmation email / 2FA confirmation.

Anything other than that should be illegal in my opinion.

Or purchase more time before your account renews. Which is what I do.

They said they processed the refund and I should re-buy after removing the thing from my cart I didn’t ask them to put in, but I’m taking a second look at ProtonVPN now. They were my #2 choice, Nord was my #1 just because everyone spoke so highly of it before now.
