Traveling to Turkey. Can I use a VPN there?

I am coming to Turkey really soon and I will have to access my email address and probably do some online banking as well

Obviously the free hotel wifi is too risky for this so I want to use a VPN.

I read a lot of contradicting stuff on the internet, about VPN use in Turkey. Some say it;s illegal, others say it’s restricted, others say that it’s not allowed but not prosecuted.

Can a local tell me if I can use it without problems?

Another option would be to buy a local SIM card and use that, but I read that they will make a copy of my passport first. I’d prefer not to go this route.

You can use. Why not? We’re all using.
I don’t know if vpn works for paypal. Personally I’m using for pornhub and wowhead.

I use surfshark here. Hotel’s free wifi may be slow but you will be able to use vpn.

I have private vpn on AWS, no restriction.

Some ISPs restrict access to certain VPNs. It happened to me before. I couldn’t access ProtonVPN. So you might want to prepare a second VPN provider.

Not if you have a Turkcell prepaid card. Those assholes actively block VPNs. Because they sell their own VPN.

You can use it. But I don’t sure about netflix and paypal. It depends on vpn by vpn I guess.

Euh, Belgium makes a copy of your passport too when you buy a simcard…

That’s due to “anti-terrorism” regulations.

VPN won’t be an issue, enjoy your stay…

Easiest vpn I ever used was Opera GX vpn. It is a browser and it has a built-in,free and fast vpn. It works absolutely amazing.

set dns settings as cloudflare from your browser, I joing pornsites like that.

Well people say it is illegall but I never seen anyone getting into a problem for using them, plus most pornographic sites so people use it quite frequently.

Did you have to use multiple VPNs or just one? Which one(s)? Did it work on both Wi-Fi and mobile data?
