Is tomspark to be trusted? Im think of buying torguard with three year deal so i can get it for 90$. I know it is based in the US, but it doesnt really matter, does it? The vpn i have seen a lot good talk about is Mullvad, but that is based in the 14 eyes too, and imo they would 100% start logging user if goverment were to ask.
The eyes crap is irrelevant for the torrenting threat model. That said, Mullvad wipes the floor with Torguard in basically every aspect, except long-term pricing which you may want to think twice about. This is a better deal for them than for you, and consequently we get people here every week regretting they were locked in a multi-year subscription.
Torguard is popular among YouTubers and some websites because they have a generous affiliate program, so they cash in everytime someone signs-up with their code. Conversely, Mullvad lacks affiliates so every recommendation is from a happy user.

Lastly, keep in mind Torguard doesn’t have a clean track record: A story of imitation and security done wrong, featuring a VPN service - vpn.ac | blog
I think his intentions are good but, in this community we look for VPN’s that are specifically geared toward torrenting. Spark on the other hand looks at VPN’s that are good in several aspects.
For example, for torrenting Mullvad is king. No question. However, if you want to use streaming services, it’s not. Point is, you need to know what you want your VPN to be good at, do the research, and decide for yourself.
If you want a Jack of all trades master of none VPN then Torguard would be a decent option. Which is why I think he pushes Torguard so much.
Tom sparks is a known TorGuard shill. Mullvad is a much better service than TorGuard.
Don’t buy a vpn plan for more than a year (ask people who bought nordvpn or surfshark for 2+ years) They could always turn their back against you (Ipvanish) or they could always sell out (PIA)
I used Torguard and they were ok. Years ago their website looks like a 5 year old designed it, but it looks better now.
Hey thanks for watching my videos!
Lots of people here are biased agaisnt things like Mullvad and iVPN. They are certainly good VPNs too, deserving of A tier rank! However, iVPN is one of the most expensive VPNs, and Mullvad has weaknesses too (but you won’t hear people admitting them here).
But as others have said, TorGuard and my other top rated S tier VPNs do things these VPNs do and OTHERs as well.
TorGuard is 100% clean in the reputation department. The only dirt people can find on it is competitors like shitty VPN.AC claiming torguard copied a ui extension 10 years ago without any proof.
If you value complete transparency, and stuff like that, Hide.me wipes the floor agaisnt iVPN and Mullvad–because it also has streaming compatibility, more apps, and it was THE first VPN to be publicly audited in 2015.
WeVPN is the new kid on the block, and you can find more info about it in my reviews!
If you want the best VPN for the best price, TG is king. It’s cheaper than other options, includes socks5, port forwarding, and has the best speeds.
Just get NordVPN or Mullvad. Done!
Why is torguard that bad? Im not going to use tomsparks code either, just a coupon i found which gives 50% lifetime. Doesnt torguard have everything it needs? Or does it lack a lot of features? And that article is like 6 years old, so it doesnt really matter that much to me.
I completely disagree with you - that’s your own opinion, I have tried most providers including mullvad but TorGuard for me was exceptional in comparison and is why I have been there for 8 years now. In regards to the extension code thing, you do realise it was all blown up so vpn.ac could gain some PR - there extension dev simply used there IP check tool for testing which when TG found out removed immediately. The audit thing is nonsense - things can look OK during an audit for a short period of time but what about before and after? pointless.
Torguard means torrentguard so i thought it was made for torrents lol
But is it good if i get it? I dont have 5 a month for mullvad.
Yeah, i get that but torguard has been the same company for 10+ years now (i think), and if i were to pick another that would be mullvad, which i tried last month and it wasnt my type. But lets say that they sell out after 1,5 years from now, then i would have paid 60 dollars for mullvad for just one year, and then torguard i pay 69 for three, so it would pay itself out if torguard were up to some bad stuff.
Sorry for bad english ![]()
Yeah, i looked into other alternatives and stumbled across airvpn, that site and their client looks very unfinished. Which vpn do you use now? Im looking for a rather cheap one like torguard, where $5 a month is a little too much for me
Thank you for your answer :D, is it completely unimportant that it is based in the us? Torguard seems like the choice i might wanna pick since it has portforwarding and an affordable price for broke people like me. Im not that big of an techieguy, so is it hard to portforward on torguard? Do i need some extra software or open a port on my own router? Thanks, and i like your videos
I already have nord, but that runs out in two weeks, and I’ve heard some bad stuff about it, so I’m probably not going to renew
Torguard isn’t that bad, there’s just better alternatives. You seem concerned about the logging, so would you rather trust a VPN that is court-proven/audited with a history of transparency, activism and open-source, or a VPN that failed at basic security when copying someone else’s product?
But then again you’re a redditor for 30 minutes and seems like you just want validation on Torguard so anything we say on the contrary will be discarded.
The lifetime thing weirds me out. I’ve seen past examples where the company took a lifetime subscription and then crumbled, along with the money. Not saying Torguard is in the same league. But you have to ask why would this lifetime deals not be given by other popular vpn providers…
Here I am getting swarmed by Tom alt accounts.
Look at your post history, there’s not one comment not advertising TorGuard.
Then how do you have $5 a month for TorGuard?
