I’m the one of the unlucky ones part of the region where Tidal isn’t available for purchase and so I was a subscriber of a different region (Argentina) for quite some time
But recently my cards are being declined. I have tried all my cards both credit, debit, and prepaid cards and they were all being declined.
Did Tidal recently have put in place restrictions on these countries already and restricted to only use Argentina based cards?
I have reached out to Tidal support and they’re clueless why it stopped working as I have been charged every month for a year now and no issues using the same card.

UPDATE
TIDAL has responded
Due to recent changes in the way Visa handles Argentine Peso (ARS) currency exchange, our payment processor will only allow cards that have been issued by an Argentine bank for the foreseeable future. Depending on what country you currently reside in, there are a couple of options available:
If you currently live in Argentina and are using a VISA card that was not issued by an Argentine bank, please update your payment method to a VISA card that was issued in Argentina. Failure to update your payment method may result in a billing failure, and ultimately in the cancellation of your subscription.
If you have moved to a different country, you’ll need to create a new TIDAL account that is registered under a different username and in the country you currently reside in. Once your new account is created, we can help transfer over all of your playlists and favorites.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Let’s say, for the benefit of the tape, I am an Argentinian native but currently I find myself in the UK and my UK credit card has recently expired.
In order to get a real taste of home I use Express VPN with an Argentinian server for my everyday browsing. I went to Tidal and set about updating my credit card details. I had a “52” UK Mastercard that had expired and am pleased to report that I was able to update my card details to those of my new “52” UK Mastercard in order to continue my subscription.
I did this within the last hour, YMMV, but thought that I would report back anyway.
From what I can tell, the issue is related to Argentina’s exchange rates for foreign versus domestic transactions. Last fall - November or December 2022 - the Argentine government apparently permitted VISA and Mastercard to start offering foreign card accounts an exchange rate similar to the black-market exchange rate, which is currently almost double the official rate. For the individual Hi-Fi+ plan, I had seen a gradual decline throughout last year as the Argentine currency lost value, from CA$1.74 in early March to CA$1.20 in early December. In January, however, the Tidal fee plummeted to CA$0.61 which would fit with the foreign card currency changes. Effectively foreign subscribers were now paying only half of what Argentinians would pay for the same service. It would make sense that the payment processor would insist upon Argentine bank cards if there’s that big of a change.
When I read that Square bought Tidal I immediately thought that this would happen eventually. It makes sense that a payment company would close these sorts of loopholes.
Mine stopped working this month as well. My Revolut Visa which worked for a long time stopped working, and I tried an Apple Card and an Amex. It keeps telling me there is an error and I need to contact the bank, but the bak says they can’t see any attempts. Whatever is happening seems to be preemptive on Tidal’s side.
One of you said that customer service didn’t know anything about it. They were probably telling the truth. This is likely happening in the background without any discussion. The support person knows as much about it as you and I, but I’m guessing they’ll start putting the pieces together as support tickets start rolling in…
its a visa card issue. just created a virtual revolut master card and it worked out. dont forget to deactivate your vpn before you confirm your card details. otherwise it will fail.
Same as Plomienios, left it a few days, generated new Revolut card, logged on without VPN , succesfully updated payment method. Just have to see if it lasts
That’s it for Tidal I guess from me. Anyone knows any good international VCC provider with their services in India as well to try it out. I’m out of options here and it’s only been one month since I started using Tidal. Damn!!!
I’ve been using Revolut for almost a year and it’s good. I don’t dare to try my Romanian cards since Tidal in Romania is like x8-9 times more expensive
Stopped working this month for everyone. Tidal is not available in my country so not more tidal for me. I already have Apple Music and Spotify subs so meh, too bad for them I guess
I am from Argentina, I think is a tax problem. There is some restrictions to buy us dollars. So may be there is a problem trying to pay in US dollars from Argentina. It’s my assumption.
It keeps saying there is a problem with my card (communications by email), but I left it alone and it keeps extending the renew date, and my service isn’t actually cut.
All the songs still play in HiFi.
Is it still working for those who left it alone? I will leave it alone until it actually cancels.
