Yesterday I received a 429 Error (problem with the server) when I tried to open the YouTube app. Can’t access my homepage or my own channel. Literally got gockblocked by Google for using their app. The worst thing is, it has something to do with my ip, because when I turn off VPN, everything from my ‘recommended’ feed to my channel and comments start loading again. BUT, since I live in Russia, I can’t use YouTube without VPN, so I’m stuck glazing at previews.
Did someone manage to fix this stupid issue? I’ve seen some people recommend waiting, but YouTube is a place where I look for educational tutorials, so I 'm afraid waiting even a couple of days is too much.

Any luck fixing this yet? I’m experiencing a similar problem since yesterday afternoon, YouTube won’t load on any devices that are connected to my wifi (including phone, PC, PS5, and smart TV). A quick Google suggests my ISP may be blocking YouTube, although not sure if that can be your case with a VPN.
I restarted my router and got it fixed.
Same here, I thought it was my router but my internet is perfectly fine all the other apps are working YouTube is partially working ( my history is watchable but that’s it)
I have same problem. But strange is that it shows error only on my local network. When I switch to cellular data it works. I didn’t change anything in my router and restart didn’t help. Any idea?
You may encounter this issue if you change your wifi.

It’s your VPN. Western United States same issue last night. I use Nord VPN connected to Los Angeles no special routing. I simply refreshed the server (it automatically picks the fastest one for you) and it came back up. Try refreshing your server (if your VPN has a refresh option) or choose another one manually.
Any resolution to this? I just had this error yesterday and it’s been past 24hours. I restarted the router multiple times and still the same.
I had this issue a few months back and right now lmao, I have no idea what is even going on
Had 429 happen yesterday but I think this is either ISP or YouTube issue as allYouTube phone and tv (app) on my network can not load at all but upon uninstalling app then loading YouTube through web browser the main page will get invalid response ,but refreshing page youtube page will load and play any featured video , in side YouTube site menus clicking shorts or search links will get invalid response , loading comments tab goes into limbo or say server error 429 ,I was auto login by Google linked account , othere relative can not even get past YouTube app login page ,How ever the best part of all this issue not a single forced YouTube advert loads between or in any videos and I do not even have an ad blocker installed on this tablet device .
Even though YouTube status says nothing is wrong I think this is a high chance of cyber attack occuring atm.
I have reset router , cleared app cache and reinstalled to no success through the official YouTube app from playstore.
Got same issue as of today, no vpn. ISP is virgin media everything works on mobile data, but as soon as I switch to wifi it does not, including my Mrs account from her phone. So it is deffo ISP ip issue. I will log a bug report now.
Well, turns out the suggestion to wait actually worked, - after hours of struggles with no results I’ve decided to let it be and went to bed. In the morning the problem resolved itself on its own.
It roughly took about 24 hours. I suggest you should wait a day too and see if the error goes away after that.

Anytime my ISPs internet is connected youtube wont load on my laptop or on any of the 3 cells in the house,
When I teather my laptop to cell phone or use cell data , youtube works fine, (I am with xplore in ontario)
Called tech support…about next to useless

Everyone in my household can’t load YouTube. It gives the same server error {429}. So I took your idea and it works, thank you! I would think it had something to do with my internet somehow, but there’s many having the same problem. And same solution. Weird.

Many of us facing the same problem are not on VPNs.
YouTube works when I connect to work VPN via my same home internet.
YouTube app working as normal now .
any luck fixing this yet Im on virgin media too having the same issue as of today, won’t load on desktop, phone or tablet but will on cellular
