Hi. Anyone interested in getting Uptodate at a much lower price can pm me. Thanks.
Yeah, that’s true, might as well
I’ve been a “nursing student” for like forever and they never said anything.
It’s not really that useful for EM though.
Never heard of dynamed before (I don’t think it’s popular outside the US). How is it different/worse?
I also owe my life to UpToDate. I can’t imagine any platform being half as good and updated (lol).
You can use CME money to pay for it
If CME money could not be used, would you fork over the annual subscription fee regardless?
Have you tried creating an account and logging in via your institutions network ? That provides me free access for I think 3 or 6 months as a time
Can you do this every 6 months?
I use my CME. As a generalist I consider UTD an essential resource
Dynamed is more focused on EBM and is in a chart/bulletpont format.
Uptodate has a lot of expert opinion and is pretty much as low as you can go in terms of the hierarchy of evidence based medicine.
That being said, I still end up using uptodate more often because not everything is black and white and sometimes the huge rants contained in uptodate can provide nuance.
From what I recall, it didn’t have as much information and was organized differently then how UpToDate was. I tried using it a few times, didn’t have a good experience, didn’t find it useful and quickly used my CME for an UpToDate subscription.
That’s interesting - I haven’t but frankly I generally have CME left over every year that would go to waste anyway so I’m happy to give UpToDate extra money
As of 2020, UTD is no longer openly available in Norway, rather access is given to IP’s affiliated with a company or educational institution.
Edit: … that is registered with the Norwegian Electronic Health Library (Helsebiblioteket).
Yup I do it for a friend who’s now in civilian practice
I always thought of uptodate as EBM + filler expert opinion. Would dynamed really have something uptodate doesn’t?
DynaMed has more evidence and less opinion. I’ve clicked on many of the referenced links in UpToDate and and found the conclusion drawn from the original body of evidence is not correct.
