I going to purchase nord vpn and i wanted to know should i get the dedicated vpn option. I will be traveling for work so i will be using a lot of public wifi so i want some sort of protection. I will be doing online banking and normal things such as emails and streaming. Is it necessary to get a dedicated ip for what im doing or the normal ip enough? Also if i get a dedicated vpn can it be turned on and off or its permanent?
A dedicated ip I’d assume you’d be easier to be found seeing how you’d be the only one assigned that address compared to using one of the ips they let multiple people use.
If you don’t need one for a specific reason you shouldn’t bother it’s a waste of money. I use one with port forwarding to access my server and I have services that require a specific ip address to be white listed, but otherwise I wouldn’t pay the extra.
ok thank you. What situations would a dedicated IP used over normal IP? Would online banking and dealing with credit cards online be one of them or its fine with shared ip?
Would a dedicated IP be safer since you are the only one using it? I do all my banking/credit cards online, is that ok while using shared IPs?
I have a dedicated IP because I have several support sites that I use that I set up a whitelist to that can only be accessed by a couple different IP addresses, one of them being my nord static IP. If you aren’t doing anything like that then I don’t think it would be worth it.
Well when I do my banking and all that in the app I just have my VPN use the standard ip that’s provided by my phone provider instead.
i see that the dedicated vpn is linked to your email account. Does that make it pointless for staying anonymous. I know you lose some privacy with dedicated vpns
