ProtonVPN not working in Windows 10

So I’ve been using the free version of ProtonVPN for a few years. So far been very happy with it. However, as of late, it no longer works on my Windows 10 machine. It works perfectly on all my Android devices and Linux.

The application allows me to login and attempts to connect to a server. It gets all the way to the end where it says, “assigning IP.” However, it doesn’t connect and says, “connection failed.” On rare occasions, it will connect. Once I’m connected, it works fine until I disconnect.

I followed the ProtonVPN troubleshooting guide. I reinstalled the TAP driver. Also, reconfigured the TAP driver. No luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled the ProtonVPN application. No change. I created a new account. Nothing.

Anyone have advice on how to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Have you tried using TCP instead? Are you in a VPN restrictive contry?

Did you maybe recently update ProtonVPN version? What’s your build version of Win10? Think newer ProtonVPN version dropped support for older build version of Win10. This is only a guess though based on some other posts

I would think that’s on Windows. Especially if it true the Google is involved with Edge. Google and Microsoft will pull a required piece of anything they cannot infiltrate.

Please submit a support ticket via the report bug feature in the app, or this link if you can’t use the report bug feature in the app (https://protonvpn.com/support-form). That way, we can ask you a few questions, have a closer look at your system config, and see what might be causing this issue on your specific device.

Yes, I tried that. Still doesn’t work. I’m in the USA.

Windows build is 10.0.1.1942.

I believe I did update ProtonVPN shortly before it stopped working. I’ll see if I still have an older version to test.

Thanks.

Excellent, thank you.

Maybe support can help you.
