Proton VPN virus?

So hopefully someone here can help me. Pretty sure my computer has a virus but every now and then when my computer has a window open in Chrome, it will all of a sudden refresh and direct me to the Proton VPN website?

Anyone have this issue? Any easy solutions here?

Edit: to clarify, I have never heard of proton VPN, nor do I have any subscription with them. Found this place just through a few Google searches to figure out what’s going on with my PC

Edit edit: sorry but I didn’t mean to say that proton VPN is a virus. Just that I must have a virus that for some reason constantly redirects my computer to Proton VPN website.

And the address you are forwarded to is https://protonvpn.com/ ?

Download and run malwarebytes on your PC or maybe even consider reinstalling your OS. Off all the things you should be doing if you suspect you have a virus nothing is the worst of them.

It’s probably a virus linking you to a fake ProtonVPN website made to take your credit card credentials or something. Like those Microsoft Support scams.

ProtonVPN is not a virus. I’d recommend to scan your system and check what is happening with it.

if you did research, why would say protonVPN is a virus? Are you saying that 34.1k members are in a ‘virus’ subreddit? Probably not. It is fine that you are feeling panic, but please don’t make any false statements. If you don’t mind, do share with us more information, including some screenshots, and we will be happy to help

Hey there, I’ve been looking for a free VPN, and I came across Proton. I’ve heard that there has been a fake site going around that’s a trojan… could anyone direct me to the REAL website please?

for me it just doesnt open

Ehhhh, I can see how one would interpret me saying protonvpn is a virus, but that’s not at all what I mean.

Just that I have a virus that for some reason is redirecting my browser every now and then to the proton VPN website.

The real site is https://protonvpn.com/ im pretty sure

You are answering a two year old comment without any context. And the post you are answering to is an answer to a problem where ProtonVPN are getting opened automatically at random points?

So it does not make any sense to just answer me with a “for me it just doesnt open” since that have nothing to do with the originally problem.

What do you actually expect me to do for you?

Do you have any antivirus installed? If not, install one and scan your computer

jeez that was rude and the onl reason i needed proton vpn is done now so i dont use it. womp womp ur late be nicer
