Interesting. If the movie metadata was made available or stored with json etc, you could get at it pretty easily I guess. I’m not sure about controlling via HTTP though. Might take a look at it when I get some free time.
Where? I have the Unsupported Appstore channel, but I can’t find yify
Your comment about json got me thinking - the streaming side of the PCT apps seems to be handled by Node.js. Again, theoretically speaking - it might not be hard to modify the rendering and load up a custom node.js package to handle the movie controls over HTTP. The search funality can be replicated over http as well, since it uses YIFY.tv. I don’t think it would be difficult to turn the entire app into a windows services. Just a thought. I’ll have look into the source more closely.
EDIT: Looks like its already possible to remote control the play/pause/stop over http.
It’s in the video section. Have you got the latest version?
Nows probably a good time to point out that there’s already a working YIFY.TV plugin on the forums. Considering PT pulls its content from YIFY, this whole project is kinda a moot point, isn’t it?
At least on my system the yify channel only works about 10% of the time. Anyone else have this issue? Maybe I made a mistake installing it, but then it wouldn’t work at all right? Anyone have a link to a good download so I could retry? In any case, a way to do it like with chromecast might be better.
